"I bought the car in May of
2001 and it was in restoration from the current owner since June of
1999. I just finished it in July of 2002 and put it on the road. The car
was first purchased in Brampton, Ontario in August of 1976, it made its
way to the Windsor Ontario area in April of 1978. I am the 8th owner of
this car. One of the owners had it for 19 years in Windsor, Ontario.
When I purchased the car all of the
mechanics had been completely restored. Some of the enhancements are:
headers with dual Monza Exhaust, electronic ignition, racing coil, all
new heavier coil springs with new gas shocks including the rear shock
kit to eliminate the typical TR6 squat, roll bar added, heavier sway
bar, all poly bushings on the suspension and steering, new universal
joints.
All the fenders were taken off and all
the undercoating stripped and repainted and the frame cleaned and
repainted.
The car was operational when I purchased
it but all of the chrome, lights, windshield and interior were removed
and the car was not painted yet. I had it painted in Windsor by CR Auto
body in the summer of 2001. During the fall of 2001 I started assembling
it and figuring out numerous electrical problems. I removed the dash and
refinished it at this time. A completely new tan interior was installed
in the spring of 2002. I have taken the dash out three times now, once
to refinish the wood dash and twice to repair the blower motor for the
heater (huge job and hope I never have to do again!!!!! but I am getting
good at it!!!). A new Stayfast top was added late this summer and the
car is virtually finished now......well owning a British car you never
are truly finished!!!!!!
I have been to a few shows in 2002:-
Bronte Creek British Car Day and Battle of the Brits. The car drives
like a dream and is a lot of fun.
Thanks to the MG club for letting a
Triumph be apart of your club and enjoying in the fun and camaraderie."
