Tony is the Runnymede MGOC's Area Secretary and is
the proud possessor of a teal blue L reg MGBGT although I
believe an Austin Seven can also be found in the deeper recesses of
his garage !
This picture is a bit of a rarity and, according
to Tony, is the only time an MG has driven on to the parade ground
at Sandhurst Military Academy. This is a passing out parade a few
years back and they wanted a nice MG to add interest to the picture
- Tony carefully cleaned his tyres and stepped into the breach....

Muriel & Tony first purchased their pride and joy in 1992. It
was first registered in 1973 and they are only the fourth owners.
The car has a complete history, with every document preserved from
the very first service invoice in the service book right up to to
the present MOT. Restoration has taken place over the
years, but always with the original specification in mind. Highlights
during their ownership include being selected to take part in
Centenary of the Car Parade at Ascot organised by Prince Michael in
July 1996 and, as the above photo proves, being 'on parade' at the
Military Academy, Sandhurst for an officer passing-out
celebration, perhaps the only time a car has been allowed on the
hallowed parade ground! Most of all . of course,
Tony & Muriel and the BGT enjoy their outings with the Runnymede
group the most. |
