Runnymeders spotted at
Stoneleigh (again)
Several Runnymeders again put an appearance at
the International MG Show and Spares day at Stoneleigh in
Warwickshire in February. Russ, Penny, Tony were all there as was
Tim - who was with "the other lot" again manning the MGF
Register stall. No doubt too much money got spent on trinkets as
well!

SILVERSTONE MG80
The MG Car Club Silverstone International
was held over the weekend of 23 - 25th July and being the
biggest event in the MG calender several Runnymeders were in
attendance. Amongts the thousands of MGs in the parking area
we found Tony & Penny with Russ admiring the cars and
John & Maureen looking around the 80th Anniversary
exhibition. Tim had entered his F in the Pride of Ownership
and won the class for the second year running.

COBWEB SPIN

Runnymeders stoically
picnicking
Although not an official Runnymede Run
their were several Runnymeders who blew away the cobwebs
and ventured down to Hursley Park to join the Winchester
MGOC at their annual Cobweb spin. The weather was still
pretty cold but it felt like the first day of spring and
was an opportunity to get the hoods down for the first
time this year although wooly hats were essential -
particularly for the more follically challenged !
Tony and Penny took their MGB GT V8 and
Russ and Ellie took the B. A Glance around the site saw
them stoically sitting in their changes with table and
full picnic - strange that absolutely no one else
was doing this - they were all in the nearby bar enjoying
beer and fish and chips !.

MGF Register including
Tim and Kevin
Tim was there with Kevin and a final
total of five MGFs from the "other" club that
Tim organises - they ahd a run down from Wisley services
and after getting held up in no less than two traffic jams
finally got to Hursley just after midday !

KEVIN ON TREFFEN

Runnymeder Kevin Watson took his silver
MGF across to the continent at the end of August for the
annual Treffen which is held in Berlin. He joined up with
many other MGFs to take part in a run through the centre
of the city , this year without a police escort !, and
other events which included driving a mini with back to
front steering and throwing a wheel brace - don't ask.
Overall on the competition side of things Kevin came fifth
and was awarded a fantastic trophy as a result as you can
see in the picture.

WOKING HOSPICE CAR SHOW Runnymeders
Bob Borchardt in his immaculate MGA and John Weller in his
white MGC GT both attended the Woking Hospice car show on
the 30th May. The show , in aid of hospice funds, took
place at Prins Willem Alexander School in Woking and
featured in the region of two hundred vehicles. Cars
ranged from a 1903 De Dion , veteran of many a London to
Brighton run, to a 2000 Morgan 4/4. MG were represented by
a couple of nice 1957 Magnettes and a 1958 racing Magnette.
A trio of MGA's including Bob's and John Heagrens newly
acquired MGA 1600 De Luxe (You may remember him from his
lovely black TC Police Car seen at many shows over the
past few years). Of course the ubiquitous gaggle of Bs
were also represented. |

Runnymeders at STONELEIGH 2004
Runnymeders spotted at the International
MG Show & Spares Day at Stoneleigh near Coventry on
Feb 15th included Russ, Tony and Penny.
Tim's MGF picked up another
award at this year's Show. A Pride of Ownership win as chosen
by the organisers when walking around the undercover
parking area. A bit of a surprise as there was no preparation
of the car beforehand.

BROOKLANDS DAY OUT - 2004
John & Marcia brought
the Midget out of mothballs for a day out at the Brooklands
MG era Day on 4th April. It was good to see John out &
about amongst the MGs again after his recent illness.

Sadly John & Marcia have now decided to sell their beloved
Midget - see FOR SALE section.

LONGBRIDGE 100

Tony & Penny at Longbridge
It's just about been 100 years since production started at the
Longbridge factory and a more poignant centenary could not have been chosen with
the closure of the factory just weeks before this show took place. Organised by
the Austin Federation the show featured some 1,500 vehicles assembled in
Cofton Park. Amongst them were Runnymeders Tim Morris who was running ther MGF
register section and Tony & Penny who came in their Longbridge built MG TF
and not the MGBGT V8 which was built at some place called Abingdon I think !

Here's Tim leading a line of cars into the Arena for a
display

BROOKLANDS MG DAY 05

Tony's V8 at Brooklands
One or two Runnymeders were spotted at the
Brooklands MG Day on April 10th. Nestling amongst the V8's
was Tony and Pennys own car whilst on the MGF Register stand
Tim's F was on display. If anyone else was there that I
didn't spot - sorry !

NAVISCAT VICTORY
Runnymeders Tim & Kevin teamed up to
tackle the MG Car Club South East Spring Naviscat in
March. Starting at the Bluebell railway in East Sussex the
40 or so OS map points were plotted throughout Ashdown
Forest and the South Downs. Navigating around 24 of those
points they managed to accumulate enoguh points to end up
as the overall winners of the event. Trophies will arrive
next year along with the honour of organising next year's
Spring Naviscat ! |

VIVA ESPANA
Tony and Penny donned their sombreros
and took up the challenge of the MGOC Spanish tour in their
silver MGTF. Setting sail on the Pride of Bilbao they met up
with a myriad of MGs for the leisurely cruise across the
channel. Once on dry sunny lane again they were soon enjoying
the Spanish coastline. Staying in carefully chosen hotels they
were joined by Richard Monk and Jonathan Kimber amongst
others from teh main MG Owners Club. The route took them along
the coast, past lakes and up mountains - in fact they covered
about 900 miles of roads in Northern Spain before getting back
to Bilbao again. With no problems from the TF apart from a
lack of space for all that Spanish wine they thoroughly
enjoyed the tour. To cap it all at the end they met up with
another classic car tour in the form of the Guild of Motoring
Writers which including one Murray Walker amongst their number
!. So with a new acquaintance under their belt they boarded
the ship again for another cruise back home.

TOTALLY MG

The three MG clubs get together to produce
this show at Kempton Park so it's pretty local to us.
Several Runnymeders were found pottering amongst the stalls,
Tony, Russ, Tim and Bob were all spotted. Bob had his MGA
picked out to go on display in front of the Grandstand as he
was an early attendee and the concours competition had been
cancelled.
Full review can be found on another of
Tim's sites MG
