THE 'SPECIALIST' CLUB FOR PRE'56 MG'S
Thank you for your interest in the MG OCTAGON CAR CLUB. If you own a pre-'56 MG, or are just interested in pre-'56 MG's then perhaps this is the Club for you.
The Club has been established since 1969 when a small group of enthusiasts in the Stafford and Stoke areas of England began to meet and cater for pre-'56 MG's in an effort to maintain and preserve the cars for which Abingdon was traditionally renowned. The objects of the Club were to arrange social and sporting meetings for the benefit of members, to provide members with information, advice and assistance and generally further the interest in the preservation of MG cars built prior to 1956.
The membership of the OCTAGON grew quickly, and subgroups were, and are being, formed, not only in the United Kingdom but also throughout the World to organise local meetings for members. In April 1972 the Club was afforded R.A.C. recognition, and thus became the only R.A.C.M.S.A Affiliated Club in the U.K. catering solely for pre-'56 MG's. The Club is also affiliated to the Association of Classic Trials Clubs.
An important aspect of the Club is that it can provide, for members, a wide range of spares at advantageous prices. Certain previously unobtainable items have been re-manufactured, and all spares are available to members at discount, as are books, technical publications, and other literature relevant to pre-'56 MG cars. It is stressed that the Club has no trade connections and is run by enthusiasts whose sole aim is to give as much help as possible to fellow enthusiasts through the medium of the MG OCTAGON Car Club.
A monthly magazine - the "Bulletin" is sent free to all members each month containing a wide range of feature articles, technical tips, photographs etc. This publication is the very heart of the Club and the common link (apart from their cars) between members.
Social and competitive activities are organised throughout the year, and the Club is invited to all major classic car shows. There are of course the regular monthly meetings for members to have an informal "natter" with fellow members.
This then is a brief outline of the MG OCTAGON Car Club, which contains examples of all MG's from the 14/28 up to the TF and YB. We hope you will join us and not only be content to reap the benefits the membership will bring you but also contribute something to the Club in terms of fellowship, advice and help to others. To ensure that "our" type of MG is kept on the road for many years to come.
Yours Octagonally,
MG OCTAGON CAR CLUB
