WTB: running engine for an MGB in Southeast US
1975 MGB
I have a 75 B that needs a new engine.
Current engine needs a rebuild, and that is currently out of my price range.
What I would like to find is a running engine out of a car perhaps from someone who is doing an engine upgrade.
Anyone in the Atlanta or Southeast area going to a 6 or 8 cylinder conversion, have a good 1800 for sale?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

For Sale - MGB Tourer
Too many factors conspiring, it's time to reduce from two MGBs to one. My '66 GT, the Battle Wagon HT251, cannot go. So, rather sadly, I am selling my '65 Tourer. It can only be sold to an MGB enthusiast (I don't want to eBay it off). Here's the ad:
"To Sell: MGB Tourer GHN3L64200. OE White/Red/Grey packaway hood. Heritage papers. Excellent driver, no rust. Right now the car's got an ex-rally 2 liter motor (specs on request) and 4 syn OD g'box in it and is very quick. I would have zero hesitation about getting in the car anytime and driving it across the country. I'll sell the car with that motor in it, along with the original motor (inc carbs, starter, etc..) for $11000. With the original motor back in the car, the price will be $7500 (no, the rally motor and trick bits do not go with the car at that price). Prices are firm.

MGB Engines,Transmissions, Rear Axles, Bonnets
Two MGB tube (Salisbury) axles, 3.9:1; one wire-wheel, and one steel-wheel. The steel-wheel axle probably needs thrust washers. I swapped it out for another many years ago, due to the "clunk" before I knew about the thrust-washer replacement procedure. I bought the wire-wheel rear-end about four years ago, thinking I would use it to compensate for 6" rear wheels that were rubbing on the fender arches. That would have required spacers, so I solved that problem by swapping wheels instead. It's very clean but internal condition is unknown. $50 each.
Three alloy MGB bonnets. All three need some work, either at the nose, or on sprung frame at the rear. $25 each.
Transmissions: ' can't remember exactly what I have, but there is at least one three-synch, and two or three four-synch boxes. Also have MGC gearbox parts, including a case (I presume it is incomplete). $25 each. Sorry, NO OVERDRIVES.
Two late 18V engines. Both turn and may run. One includes ZS carb and manifolds. The other was rebuilt by a PO with some unknown performance parts and has never been run since. $150 each.
Here's the kicker: You must pick up or arrange truck shipping. I am in Harbor Beach Michigan, 130 miles NE of Detroit. I am willing to take them to any large Michigan city, or even as far as Toledo Ohio for my transporting costs. These are bulky items - taking up a lot of my storage space. Getting them moved out and put to good use is more important than the money, so I'm very negotiable.

For Sale - 1979 MGB convertible
We have for sale a 1979 baby blue convertible MGB that needs some TLC. It is currently located in Sacramento but spent several years parked in San Francisco where it was a bit beaten up by the elements. I purchased it in San Diego where it was very happy and healthy. It was never meant to live in SF.It was in excellent running condition before it ran out of gas and was left in driveway for about a year where the fog and salt air took its toll. It is currently not running . It had been running while working on it several months ago however, it suddenly failed to turn over and we do not know why.We are not MGB savvy at all nor do we have much time to dedicate to it as we have just had our second baby. It has personalized liscense plate of "BLUU SKY". Its interior is in great shape. It still has its original 8-track tape player and some tapes, button down cover and the top (rips in back side widows) We would love to give it a loving new home :>) $1200 or best offer. I have a lot more pictures I would be happy to email. Angie or Jim 415-564-2044

For Sale - 1953 MG TD
1953 TD for sale
Great driver. P.O. did thorough tub-off amateur restoration. I bought "TeDdy" in April 2007 and have added the following: Gordon Lawson custom wood-rimmed steering wheel on original steering wheel "frame"; three-point seat- belts as per Horst Schach ("The Complete M.G. TD Restoration Manual"); recurved distributor from Advance Distributors (Jeff Schlemmer); had all six wheel cylinders resleeved/rebuilt by White Post. Brake shoes and hoses are almost new (front) and brand-new (rear); purchased new wiring harness from British Wiring. P.O. made up a new harness but with no color codes. Current wiring is new but very difficult to service as the wires are all red. (The new harness comes with the car.

Car runs very well; ' drove it on 260-mile round-trip on 9/13/09 with no problems except horn button shorted out. It has a 4.3 rear end, so it cruises happily at my ceiling of 3500 rpm or about 57 mph. When I'm not looking, it will sneak up to 60 or 65 even. At 3500 rpm, it holds 50# oil pressure. Only
thing not working is speedometer. My recorded speeds (above) are from my
GPS. A spare XPAG engine block comes with the car.
Check out http://www.mgexperience.net/journal/bachldrs/4051 for an account of this "award-winning" trip. If I were to keep this car, in addition to fixing the speedometer, I would have the shifter remote rebushed; it is noisy but it gives my right knee something to do. It (my right knee) has to be
someplace and resting on the shift lever is as comfortable as any - and it keeps the remote quiet.

Syncros are OK unless you just have to speed-shift. Treated with grace and civility, the gearbox will respond in kind. You are not going to notice any problems traveling in club caravans, etc. The only problem is that this TD will want to go faster than all the others due to the 4.3 rear end.

The restoration, as I've said, makes for a very attractive driver, if not a concours car. I could wish for a more professional paint job as there are some subtle mismatches between some of the panels. I've never had any delusions of Pebble Beach, so I don't mind. Much of the chrome is new:
bumpers, over-riders, headlights, and grill-shell. Side-lamps, tail lamp plinths and windscreen frame are moreover sure to delight you "patina" fans. Interior is gorgeous - all new, as is the hood and half-tonneau. Dashboard is attractive new walnut, instruments have that elusive "patina" that matches
some of those older chrome pieces.

So why am I selling? When I came home from Detroit with it on Sunday, I had definitely decided I would have to keep it! But since then, reality has set back in. While my wife also loves the car, she has some spinal disc problems and a bad hip as well (we're both much older than "TeDdy"). My girl simply can't ride in it, so I can't share it with her - and that's what it's all about. And what's more, it's easier to sell "TeDdy".

Given that nicely-restored TDs are now running into the mid-twenties, I'm thinking that my price of $14,500 fairly represents this handsome, nice-running but less than perfect example. I will listen to offers.

Thanks for reading!

For Sale - 1980 MGB LE - soft and hard tops included - $7500 obo
Black exterior and interior. Engine, transmission, body, interior - all in excellent condition. Original(?) soft top still in very good condition. Hard top also included. Another cover that is used when soft top is folded down is included. 123,400 miles. Could easily be used for daily transportation. Was lovingly maintained by an MG enthusiast for the first 120,000 miles and for the time I have owned it I had all work professionally done by the local MG specialist. Garaged most of its life and it shows. Only significant change from the original, that I know of, is the conversion to dual carbs and brake fluid switched over to silicone. Does not have air dam, AC or overdrive.

I have owned and enjoyed this car for 8 years and am selling it because I simply do not drive it enough and want the garage space for my new Subaru! 13 pictures on http://www.flickr.com/photos/mrsdeans - click on the MG set. 919 878 8141 home, 919 302 0295 cell, marcia.deans@gmail.com

Engine and transmission were removed and parts are boxed. I purchased in 1996 and restored mechanically. I then dismantled and delivered to a British Car shop for body work and paint. The owner of the shop skipped town and the car was never finished. I would like this car to go to an enthusiast who would finish to original specification. Please email or call 703-399-9061 for more information. Asking $2,500 or best offer. I live in Northern Virginia but car is stored in Prospect, NY. Can be inspected at any time.

For Sale: Set of FIVE used LE wheels
1979-80 MGB LE or any other disc-wheel MGB
I bought these with the idea of restoring them, then I found a set that needed no restoration. These look nice and straight but they definitely need refinishing. A set of five new ones, discounted from Little British Car Co add up to $947.90. If you're willing to expend the effort to restore these, they would be a real bargain at my price of $250 for the five. Or your offer? Picture only shows four wheels, there are FIVE. More pictures available on request. Shipping at buyer's expense.

For Sale - 1965 MGB-Pull Handle
My Parents bought this car in the 80's and gave it to me in the early 90's. I had it painted, new top, new chrome. Had the engine completely gone over and any necessary work done and joined a car club. Now it just sits and has for about the last 8 years. It's current condition is pretty good. It runs very well and looks very nice from 5 feet or so. It needs new floor boards, carpet and another new top, has some rust on fender and door. Boot lid has peeling clear coat due to moisture under the car cover. It needs a new home. This is someone's lucky day...make an offer!

Free - Rubber Bumpers
My name is Seth Frank I recently purchased a home in Lake Tahoe. Much to my surprise i found a front & rear bumber for an MG under my deck. They are in fair shape & was wandering if these items would be needed. I'm not looking to sell them But if you know someone who needed them & wanted to pay the shipping i would be more than happy to part with them rather than take them to the dump. please let me know.

For Sale - 1978 MGB
My car has 25,000 miles on engine overhaul & clutch (replaced in 1992 before I bought car). I bought it in 1996 and have only put around 20,000 miles on it. I've had the fuel pump, exhaust manifold, smog equip, carb (rebuild), catalytic converter (all within past 10,000 miles), paint (original burgandy, just a cosmetic job, not a restoration), seats, top, and new trunk lid (2 years ago), and in the past year I've had the front end rebuilt, replaced clutch master cylinder, rear drum brakes, hoses, belts. Here in CA we have to maintain the original equipment; it has always passed CA smog certification. I've got around $12,000 in the car and it's had excellent mechanical care always, but I've been spending the summer months on the East coast and I just don't use it often enough. It's a great and fun starter sports car. All records available. The interior still needs the door panels redone and a good sound system. Best reasonable offer. Contact Deborah at 510 525-0884.

For Sale - MG Metro Turbo
MG Metro Turbo...only one of a few known in the USA. Very complete, no excuses car. I have used this car for almost daily transport for the last 2 years. Runs very well, everything works, nothing missing. Quite fast and handles like a go-cart. The suspension has been lowered, brand new (2 months) Superlite 6x13 alloy rims with Sumitomo tires. (original rims available with the car). Interior in like new condition, exterior has had a respray at some point in its life. Rollbar installed Metros were introduced in the UK in the early 1980's and were intended to replace the famous Mini. They use the same drive train, front and rear sub frame setup. They were very successful sellers and actually saved the British car industry. (for the time being anyway!!) There were plain Austin Rover versions, however the MG variants, both the MG Metro and the more powerful MG Metro Turbo were Rovers answer to keep the sporting MG name alive until the new MGF could be introduced. This is the familiar 1275 A-series A+ engine as used on Minis for decades. Please contact me for more photos and info.
