Wednesday, April 23, 2008 5:00 P.M. - Reception at Fort West Martello, a beautiful garden
setting overlooking the Atlantic Ocean where we will have light hors d'ouvres, and a beer or
cocktail while saying hello to old friends who have made the journey.
Thursday, April 24, 2008 11:00 A.M. - Just a short drive from our motel to Key West's Bocce Ball
Courts for the first of our Key West Olympics (KWO) events, team Bocce Ball. While here we will
have a lunch barbeque with hamburgers, hot dogs and bratwurst. While our cars are parked in
the lot, we will invite the public to stop by and vote for their favorite car. The voting will continue
on Friday.
Thursday, April 24, 2008 6:30 P.M. - Gather at the host motel, El Patio, and then head for the
staging area to participate in the Great Conch Republic Independence Celebration Parade down
fabled Duval Street. It will be our third year in the Parade!
Friday, April 25, 2008 9:30 A.M. - Leave our motel and caravan up U.S. 1, stop for a cup of
fabulous Baby's Coffee at mile marker 15, then on to the Historic Bat Tower on Sugarloaf Key
(MM 17) where we will have our official pictures taken with the Bat Tower as the
background. Then, at about 11:30 A.M., on to MM 27.5, Boondocks' bar, restaurant and the
second round of the KWO (Key West Olympics), a game of miniature golf; then lunch from an
open menu. Since this will be our first year with a Lower Keys event, the restaurant will hype our
arrival, and we will finish the public voting there.
Friday, April 25, 2008 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. - Happy Hour at "The Hole" (any explanations needed on
how to get there?), where will have our third, and final KWO event, a casting contest (don't worry,
we'll explain when you get there and it is easy!).
Saturday, April 26, 2008 All day - All day to play, shop, drink and enjoy Key West. You can visit
you favorite museum, tourist attraction, bar or day trip.
Saturday, April 26, 2008 6:00 P.M. - Banquet, Awards Presentations and Sock Hop at Hurricane
Joe's at MM 4.5 on Stock Island, where we know the owner and are assured of a great meal and
service.
