Marketing & Communications Manager

The Marketing & Communications Manager has multiple, but related duties. The Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for coordinating and supervising the staff responsible for all NAMGAR branded printed material and electronic communications. In addition, the Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for supervising both the placement and selling of NAMGAR advertising. The Marketing & Communications Manager is also responsible for NAMGAR's efforts to market and provide positive exposure at non-NAMGAR specific events and publications.

The Marketing & Communications Manager’s duties include:

  • Taking a lead role in establishing policies, goals and procedures for all methods of communications to reach NAMGAR members, the general public and the media in a coordinated and professional manner. These must be consistent with the evolving NAMGAR brand. These include, but are not limited to, MGA! magazine, NAMGAR website(s), books, CDs/DVD's, non-NAMGAR events, rallies, shows, other publications, etc.
  • Evaluating new and changing communications technologies and recommending how they could be used in meeting NAMGAR’s goals.
  • Reviewing issues of MGA! magazine, content of the website and other print and electronic media disseminated by NAMGAR to assure that they meet the established policies and goals. This should be viewed as mandatory for any new NAMGAR branded products.
  • Managing the staff positions of Editor, Advertising Manager and Internet Coordinator.
  • Attending the annual NAMGAR Board of Directors meeting and the annual Get-Together (GT).
  • Presenting a Marketing & Communications Report at the annual Board meeting.

The Marketing & Communications Manager must own a personal computer and be familiar with the operation of a word processing application (i.e. MS Word), a financial spreadsheet application (i.e. MS Excel), an electronic mail application (i.e. MS Outlook), and have access to the Internet.

To be considered for the position, one must:

  • Be a NAMGAR member in good standing.
  • Have demonstrated leadership skills at the local or national level.
  • Be willing to serve as Marketing & Communications Manager for a period of three (3) years.

At the end of the Marketing & Communications Manager’s initial term in office, he or she may elect to resign or, at the discretion of the Board of Directors remain in the position on a year-to-year basis. A change in Marketing & Communications Manager becomes effective once a replacement candidate is identified and installed into the position.

The Marketing & Communications Manager can expect to spend a minimum of twenty (20) hours per month fulfilling his or her duties.
