On day one of this wonderful Get Together the main event was the car show. NAMGAR members came from all over the continent to gather at the beautiful Cal-Neva Resort in Lake Tahoe and from there we departed to the park a few miles from the resort. Here members and some non-NAMGAR members took care to prepare their MGA's and MG's for the show.
Here you will see a few of the many cars that were on display for everyone to see and enjoy talking with one another. For those of you that have never been to a GT before the event chairman, Lawrie Alexander explains what it is all about!
"The NAMGAR GT's are the main opportunity each year for members from all parts of the country to meet each other and to compare notes on their cars and their local activities. It is also a chance to become more involed in your national organization, so be sure to visit with the NAMGAR Board and staff members who are here and learn more about the organization of which you are a member. If you are not a NAMGAR member than maybe this is the time to consider becoming one!"

Getting ready to depart for afternoon activities
Gentlemen, Start Your Engines!
Following the car show there were several activities folks could choose such as the self guided tour to Viginia City. Others just took this opportunity to go back to the host hotel and relax, make some repairs or just continue discussions started in the park.
The day dawned bright and warm, in fact very hot for most of the day. About 80 cars took part in the rallye, scenic tour departing from the Cal-Neva resort between 8AM and 9:30AM. It was a self paced gimmick (clue) rallye and was very well put together so most anyone could participate. If folks decided to just do the scenic tour, which was the same as the rallye route they could do that also. The rallye was to end at the National Auto Museum in Reno, NV. along with a barbecue lunch. Participants could take their time at lunch and tour the museum at their lesiure. The return to the resort was again put together with two different routes back, one a little more challenging as far as inclines and mountain passes. Either route take provide one with the typical beautiful view of the countryside.
Once back at the resort everyone had some time to themselves and relaxed. Then at 5:30pm more fun began! The auction, raffle and buffet dinner was scheduled and it was a packed house as you can see below. Members viewed the interesting items for auction such as an original SU bookend set (sold for $60), a beautiful sweater and hat, donated by a host club member (sold for $115), Kevin Walsh prints (sold for $175 and $150), a very interesting quilt wall hanging (sold for $120) and of course there were many items that sold for lesser amounts. But the participants really seemed to get into the spirit and bid, bid, bid on every item.
The raffle brought us many smaller prizes again donated by vendors and other interested parties that were host club members or MG enthusiats. All in all between the raffle and the auction both the fun did not stop till 9pm.
From time to time it seemed the roads were down to a single lane and we had to waiting for all the all clear.
Moving in single lane with constrution to the right. Cattle was everywhere, but no rustlers were in sight.
Our friend TD Duck Car (or was that the duck driving) brought a laugh to everyone that passed by.

On Thursday many of the participants took off and went on a mine tour. Those brave souls left at 7:30am and did not return until about 3:30pm. The rest of the folks that stayed behind took advantage of the vendors that were at the GT as well as the funkhana. At 3:00pm a two hour tech session was held were the members had a chance to discuss the technical aspects of the MGA. Here are some images of the day.

The final chapter of GT-24 took place in the Frank Sinatra room. This was the long awaited awards banquet, where the results of the car show where made known, the long distance drivers were announced and the Mac Spears award was presented. Here are some images of fellow NAMGAR members enjoying themselves at the Banquet. Please click on the this link to see the award winners. GT-24 Awards will be posted this weekend.
