MGCC South East Centre autotests always provide some stunning antics for the more docile car clubbers to observe or indeed take part in. The 15th of March was the first in this year's series of autotests, it being postponed from 2 weeks prior. This, the first round of this year's several took place near Ewell, Surrey in the car park of N.E.S.C.O.T. This is a good spot in that there is a lot of space. It was also quite fun to observe the parents coming and going to the nearby kiddies birthday party being held in one of the college buildings. At first they would try to park up next to the participating M.G's and then thought better of it imagining that they would come back to their beloved Mundano being put through its paces around the otherwise quiet college car park.

Galipeau & Mumford

The selection of cars was quite varied with everything from James Mumford's 1931 MMM going right up to date with the MGF. Both of these cars are very suitable for autotesting, the 'MMM' because it's very nimble and the 'F' because of it's power steering and excellent braking capabilities. Martin Neal as always exploited the various tests with great gusto, creating the tell tale clouds of burning rubber which always seem to pursue his quick Midget.

Martin Neal going for a bit of ballet complete with video camera.

The next venue for this year's series will be at Fleet Services on the M3 on the 17th of May . If you can get along to join in or just observe you can be sure of more than just a burger and coke to provide some great entertainment and competition.
