Replacement Brake Pipes
If you are fitting new brake pipes to your Sprite consider re-routing the pipe which runs along the front cross member: This pipe runs dangerously close to the pinch bolt on the bottom of the steering column with two potentially disastrous consequences. Firstly the pipe can chafe on the column as the wheel is turned, and secondly (especially prevalent with replacement copper brake pipes), the pipe can catch on the pinch bolt and be ripped out when turning the wheel to full lock. With most brake pipe replacement kits the pipe supplied for this transverse run is long enough to be relocated to the underside of the crossmember completely out of harm's way.
