Doncaster Classic Car Show

I am pleaesd to announce the initial details of our Doncaster Classic Car & Bike Show, in South Yorkshire, taking place on Sunday 25th July this year.
Attached is our brief, initial press release pre-booking form although at this stage much more is being organised for the event, details of which will be available later.
We confidentally predict over 400 exhibits this year plus a wealth of interesting other vehicles and entertainment for all the family.
Please note our very attractive entry costs (unchanged from last year) which makes it a very economic event to attend. Also note that if you come as a Club, or Regional Club within a main Club, entry fees are further reduced and we can accommoate specialist displays of your cars to suit.
Please support our event as all the profits go to local charities and pre-booking makes things so much eaiser for us.
If you cannot attend as a major car club, then please pass on this information to the local region or area of your club within our location (South Yorkshire/ West Yorkshire/ Humbeside/Lincolnshire/Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire).
If you have any queries or want to know more, just contact me either on email or tel: 01302 771818 or, for information on previous year's shows, visit our website at www.doncasterclassiccarshow.org.uk

Turweston Wings & Wheels 2010

For the last 10 years Turweston Aerodrome has hosted an annual Vintage and Classic Day. Conceived and run by volunteer members of the Vintage Aircraft Club (VAC) the day had grown from a fly-in for vintage aircraft enthusiasts to a much larger event encompassing vintage cars and bikes, agricultural machinery and car boot sales. It had outgrown its origins and demanded an increasing amount of time of its volunteer organisers who as a result asked Turweston Flight Centre (TFC) to take over the organisation and running in 2009.

It was felt that the event could be made more attractive to local people and also cater for families; offering entertainment for everyone. With a lot of help and support from the VAC Turweston was able to host a much-expanded event with vintage and classic aircraft, cars, motorbikes, tractors, barn engines and more, plus, for the first time, a country fair, children’s rides, a Red Arrows simulator and the highlight at the end of the day – a fly-past from the mighty Avro Vulcan.

The event was well organised with plenty of catering and all the other facilities associated with a successful day out and 2010 is set to be even better. There will be car boot sales, traders selling vintage and classic books and other products, country market stalls, lots of fantastic cars, bikes and aeroplanes and (hopefully) a surprise fly-past. The Sunbeam Motorcycle Owners Club will once again be in attendance with their marvellous pre-1915 bikes. The Owners travel from Stratford-Upon-Avon to Turweston for their September challenge – no mean feat on these really old machines!

The airfield is a great setting for the event with the benefit of hard and grass runways, ample parking for visitors and exhibitors alike, well-maintained landscaped areas and amenities that would normally be associated with a much larger operation. As one visitor remarked last year: “Where else can you have a great day out with your family for a fiver?” We heartily concur.

Wings & Wheels 2010 will be held on Sunday 19th September. For more information prospective exhibitors and visitors can visit the TFC website at http://www.turwestonflight.com where they can read a wrap-up note to the 2009 event and request information about 2010. Alternatively TFC can be telephoned on 01280 705400 or emailed at info@turwestonflight.com.

MINCE PIES AND CLASSIC CARS!

Get away from the Christmas shopping on Saturday 5th December by popping down to the Midland Classic Restorations and Peter May Workshop Open Day.

These well known classic restoration and race preparation specialists are again opening their doors to visitors for a morning of festive fun - Mince pies, mulled wine and classic cars will all make for a welcome break from the seasonal preparations.

Visitors will be treated to a mouthwatering selection of MCR’s completed restorations, as well as looking at a number of ‘projects in progress’. Peter May will be busy fettling racing cars, as well as working on one of his well known race engines.

Midland Classic Restorations’ owner, Dominic Mooney. said “Last year’s event was a great success and we hope that we can repeat it again this year. We were really pleased with the huge amount of people who braved the winter weather to take a break from their Christmas shopping and chat about classic cars. We look forward to seeing everyone again for more mulled wine and mince pies.”

Both Peter and Dominic will be on hand to answer questions and offer advice to all visitors at their workshop, situated on the A449 at Ombersley.
