Event for all MGs and Rovers. Various MG and Rover clubs attending.
Organised by the MG M Group (1998), this is the clubs main annual event and the highlight of the MG'M' calendar. This year the MGM annual event will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the MG Montego and will be held at Coombe Abbey Country Park, near Coventry. Coombe Country Park is located in the centre of England, four miles east of Coventry on the B4027. It is less than 10 minutes from Jct 2 of the M6, or the A45/A46 interchange SE of Coventry, which leads to the M1 and M40. OS grid ref, SP 404798. The Coombe Abbey Country Park is administered by Coventry City Council. It is the site of a 12th century Cistercian Abbey, now the Coombe Abbey Hotel. The Hotel itself is not open to the public, but tours are arranged on the first Sunday of each month. The splendour of the 51 hectare landscape of the Country Park is openly accessible to all, and includes beautiful gardens, lakes, woodland and grassland, all rich in aquatic birds, plants and habitat. The park was designed by Lancelot Brown and the terrace garden was designed by W A Nesfield. The wildlife sanctuary is a SSSI and contains the biggest heronry in Warwickshire, with approximately 50 pairs. About 15 pairs of Cormorants also breed, and the variety of other nesting birds make it a haven for birdwatchers. The country park is very popular with families, especially during school holidays and at weekends. More than 450,000 visitors annually flock to enjoy the park, which is easily accessed on the outskirts of Coventry. Facilities include the Visitor Centre which encompasses the Park Information Service, a field studies centre with discovery interactive display, a cafe, a shop and toilets. Outside there is a children's play area, and in the grounds there are all-weather pathways for garden and lakeside walks that are suitable for wheelchair users. Throughout the year Coombe Country Park hosts many events, including a number of car rallies, and it is seen to be the ideal venue to hold THE premier event for MG Metro, Maestro and Montego cars in 2004. The MG SALOON DAY 2004 will be located in the events field adjacent to the Visitor Centre and historic Coombe Abbey, near the entrance to the Park.
Related MG/Rover/Metro/Maestro clubs such as the Montego and Maestro Owners club, the Performance Rover club, and the Performance Metro club, have all been invited, and there is an open invitation to all MG and Rover saloon owners both old and new. Confirmed clubs attending will be published on this site along with the layout of the event. Trade stands will be there to supply you with a wide range of parts and accessories to make it go faster, stop better and look prettier! It is also an opportunity for Club members to sell and exchange parts.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the MG Montego, a special display is planned.
All MG saloon owners are invited, whether you are driving a new Z-car
As usual there will be a 'Competition' event for cars. Please visit the above link for catagories and rules.

Directions to Coombe Park All should note that the A46 Coventry Eastern bypass does not have a junction where it crosses over the B4027 to Coombe Park/Brinklow. You need to leave the A46 at the roundabout to the north and follow the signs to Coombe Park from there. 1. From Junction 2 of the M6 Take the A46 exit (Coventry East and South). Join A46 south and after 1 mile turn right/west (2nd exit) at the first roundabout. Go to instruction 4. 2. From M69 carry straight on south onto the A46 and after 1.5 miles turn right/west (2nd exit) at the first roundabout. Go to instruction 4. 3. From the south follow signs for A46/M69 and join A46 heading north from the large A45/A46 roundabout near Coventry Airport. Straight on at first roundabout at 1.5 miles passing TGI Fridays on your left. At the next roundabout in about 1 mile turn left/west (1st exit). Go to instruction 4. 4. From the A46 roundabout you come to a T-junction roundabout in 400yds where you go left/south. After 0.5 mile turn left/east at traffic lights onto the B4027 and it's a couple of miles up to Coombe Park (entrance on the left). 5. For those going to the MG Saloon Day from Northampton/M1 along the M45 into Coventry, may I recommend that you turn off the A45 up the Fosse Way (B4455) to Brinklow. In Brinklow just keep on the main road (B4027 towards Coventry) (you have to turn right for the Fosse) and that takes you to Coombe Park. Apart from being a more direct route, you avoid the 3 forward facing speed cameras on the A45 at Ryton. The Fosse is also a pleasant alternative from the M40 (near Gaydon).
