All Roads Lead to Reno for MG2011!
Rick Ingram – Executive Director, North American Council of M.G. Registers

Planning for “MG2011 – A Western Experience” began shortly after we had closed the books on MG2006 (held in Gatlinburg, TN). The members of the North American Council M.G. Registers began their search in 2007 for a location for MG2011. We narrowed our search from twelve cities nationwide to two cities and then made site visits. As previously announced, Reno/Tahoe, Nevada was chosen as the location for the fourth all M.G. register event that has been held in North America since 1996. This event is sponsored by the five national M.G. registers (who make up the Council); we are being joined for this event by GoF West. Our host club is the Reno All British Car Club.

MG2011 will be a mid-week event (June 13-17) with activities beginning on Monday night and continuing through Thursday night. This gives you a weekend on each side of the gathering for your “excellent M.G. road trip”.

We have a block of over 800 rooms reserved at the “tri-properties” in downtown Reno. This hotel group is made up of the Silver Legacy, Circus-Circus, and the El Dorado. All three hotels are under one roof! Our rates for the event range from $69 to $79 plus tax per night during the event.

We encourage you to arrive in Reno by Monday afternoon, as we have an exciting evening planned at the National Automobile Museum (formerly known as the Harrah Collection). Tuesday will be packed with driving tours and tech sessions; that evening will be “Register Night” with each affiliated register offering something special for its membership. Wednesday will be another day of opportunities to discover the great driving roads of the Lake Tahoe area or stay at the tri-properties for tech sessions and more; that evening we will be having some special entertainment on property as well as our auctions. Thursday is show day! Our popular vote car display will be held at nearby Rancho San Rafael (located less than two miles from the tri-properties). We anticipate 800 to 1000 M.G.s to be in attendance, and it will be a safe bet to say that you will most likely see some rare M.G.s on the show field along with hundreds of great examples of the marque. That evening we will hold our awards banquet at the tri-properties. We’ll say our “good-byes” on Friday morning and head for home.

As we all know, there can be safety in numbers. As you plan your “excellent road trip adventure” to MG2011, you might want to consider joining up with the “Rallye To Reno” caravan. This group will start on the East Coast and follow US50 to Reno, picking up enthusiasts along the way. Information regarding this caravan can be found at: http://www.rallyetoreno.com/

Online registration for “MG2011 – A Western Experience”and hotel registrations will begin in late October 2010.

Start planning your road trip today. If you’ve experienced one of these meets in the past, you know what to expect; if this is your first all-register meet, you are in for a treat! See you in Reno!
