Tie Bars

One of the parts that are often neglected are the tie bars of the front suspension. From outside they look ok, but at the end, where the bar is fixed to the frame bracket under the footwell, the rubbers hide any corrosion.
As you can see on the following picture half of the bar is rusted away. And be sure this is not the worst one I've seen! I dismantled cars with much more rusted away!
So keep the Safey fast slogan in mind and check yours.

We received the following hint from Carsten Wivel, Denmark, an very experineced Magnette owner for more than 25 years:

I drilled out the ends of my tie bars and tapered the holes. Then I simply screw in high tensile bolts using Loc-tite - uncutting the heads of the bolts afterwards. I did this 15 years ago, and they are still working properly
