Magnette Event of the Year

The second register event of the year was based in and around Abingdon over the weekend of 1st & 2nd May.
After the (well attended) AGM, register chairman Paul Batho who lives very locally to Abingdon had sorted out a really fine road run incorporating some of the original factory test route runs and a visit to a museum. The trip ended at Cecil Kimber's former home, the Boundary House, which is now a pub with a very large restaurant, for a really pleasant evening meal.

For Sunday, we were based at the Abingdon Works Centre event at Dalton Barracks. Unfortunately, the weather was not good with quite a lot of rain, and a high wind which made it bitterly cold. Not withstanding this, we managed to get a turnout of 17 cars which was very respectable given the conditions. With fly-pasts from a variety of historic aircraft, some fascinating static displays and more than 300 other MGs joining the Magnettes, there was lots to see!
