NAMGAR GT 35

Thomas Webb (here with his wife Angel, standing next to their good friend Jeff Powell's '58 ZB Magnette, sent the first impressions of this big come-together of Magnettes. I suppose it was the first?

presentation trophies which were given to John & Lou Shorten

FYI my neighbour made the wood grille for John and Lou's big trophey - nice job!! He came over several times to check dimensions etc against my car and the result is beautifully hand carved deep 3 dimensional representation of the original grille. The grille was not intentionally so scaled but when we came to doing the grille badge we were stumped ... until I suddenly thought of the badge on my key ring fob. I measured it up and it was exactly the right scale - so I cut it off and we mounted it on the trophey!

The other - the air intake - was a personal memento from Sara, Amy, Steve and me for their trip. Years before I had bought a lovely polished air intake from Lou ... but never got to fitting it on PWW 111. I decided I would do that for GT35. My old battered and dulled one I then wondered what to do with it ... so I borrowed my neighbours polishing wheel, buffed it up, then had it engraved. I have to say I was quite pleased with it too when it was done. I think John and Lou quite appreciated it as well!

Anyway - there is a little of the stories behind the trophies for you if you want it.
