Silverstone 2009

Silverstone. The biggest MG event on the globe. Year by year MG
enthusiasts pilgrim to the race circuit for three days full of MG.
I personally had the impression that this year very few international guests
attended, which surprised me as the low Pound and cheap ferry rates make
travelling to England cheap. There were again less trader stands than last year
and they even filled the gap with a lawn mower trader. NTG and the Shorten's,
the only dealer for Magnette parts, were absent (although the Shorten's
were there as visitors).
There were about 11 Magnettes on the register parking, another one in the
paddocks and 3 for sale. Interestingly all were Varitones, except one ZB, but
this was painted as a Varitone. Also the stripped down bodyshell of John Beesley
's Magnette was to be seen on the friday. It's was chemical stripped and
immersion coated with modern industry standard primer finish.
I had another interesting meeting the day before with Ian Metcalf. he is going
to built the fastes MG ever and it will be a Magnette! A full story to appear
soon here on the website.
The Farina's celebrated their Golden Jubilee and
there were 4 cars present. I haven't ever seen so many close together as it
seems it's one of the most unloved MGs.
