Tony
Slattery has added to our Technical Data information by providing a list of
Nuts and Bolts found on Y Types. In his
own words "It was compiled by myself during the strip down of three cars - so
there are obviously some listings that vary from car to car. Therefore it should
not be regarded as a factual document - just a guide as to what bolt goes
where." Engine bolts are covered in the other documents so Tony has not
listed those here. The PDF will be permanently available from the
Technical Data page in the Technical Centre.

A while ago
we brought you a new page Ys on Film with the
anticipation of bringing you video clips and still photographs from the films as
well as plot précis. Well, after a series of negotiations, we have
obtained permission from the BBC to show stills and video from the Murder at
the Vicarage drama, and from TalkbackTHAMES.TV to show the clip and some
stills from the film Sweeney 2.
While we
were tracking down with the BBC we also obtained consent from Norma West who
played Mrs. LeStrange. Norma said "It is with great pleasure that I give
my permission for video clips from Murder at the Vicarage to be used on the MG Y
website. It was such an immensely happy experience, particularly working with
the 'definitive' Miss Marple, Joan Hickson, that to give the film exposure in
any way, is a good thing. I look forward to looking at the site. Lots of
luck, Norma." Thank you Norma. Sadly, Michael Browning who played
Doctor Haydock, has passed away.

2007 is
approaching - and with it the 60th anniversary of the Birth of the Y!
As promised
the UK folk are organising a weekend long event to celebrate this. More
details are now available, and I believe rooms are disappearing fast! So,
if you want to get in the local hostelry you had better book now! Some
fairly extensive details can be found on the Events page
... so rush there now, grab the details and book in for what will be the
premiere event of a great Year!
Also today
- two new Collectibles have been added - an
original handbook envelope for the handbook, and a fantastic high quality
photograph of Geoff Holt and Stan Astbury in their YB on the 1953 Rally of Great
Britain.

Apologies -
I have been advised of a minor error on the sales price lists.
The price has been updated and list may now be downloaded
in either A4 or
Letter size. Click on the page size of
your choice.
We have
also added another layer of anti-SPAM protection to our committee members.
Should you experience any problems let us know through the BBS that you need
someone to contact you and we will. A note like this will also appear
there. It is a fact of 21st century life I am afraid!

Today,
please welcome John Thornley (no, not that one ... the other one) with
YB 0711 to Ys on Parade.
John is the 80th YB on the site, congratulations John! This one comes to
us via Malcolm Hardy, who met John at a recent MG event ... and they got
talking, as Y owners are want to do!!!
This got me
wondering, now that we have 329 Ys on the website, what sort of % of the cars
known to the Register (as opposed to 'Live' cars) so I have added another row of
math to the Ys on Parade table. As of 1 April
2006, Jack Murray, Registrar, had details of 1,624 Ys of which 957 were YAs, 295
were YTs and 372 were YBs. This means that of the total known cars we have
1 in every 5 cars in the Register on the website, or just over 20%: that is a
huge achievement! If you want the model breakdown YAs are 16.7%, YTs 30.2%
and YBs 21.5%! Well done and keep sending them in (with the owner's
consent if they do not have internet access).

While doing
some research today I came across a new (well new to me) page from Willem van
der Veer on the MG T Type and Prewar Owners Club, Holland. A link has been
added to the Links page for
this
site.
Also, copies of an original picture of Geoff Holt and Stan Astbury in HMO 910 (Sergeant) can be obtained from Stilltime - see
their link on the Links
page.
Finally, in
terms of Links added for today, John Rowe's YB 1146
is shown on the
Flikr website photographed by Robert Silverwood.
A link has been added for this too.

We are very pleased
to welcome three new entries to Ys on Parade at the
start of this new month - please welcome Don Martine with
Y 2675, Mel Castleberry with
YT 1926, and Norbert Kapfer with
YB 1216, - amazingly one of each kind! All
three of these break new ground in some way for the website:
-
Don's car is the
160th
YA on the site,
-
Norbert's car is our first Y from
Austria and
it joins its sister YB 1215 in making yet another pair of Ys reunited at last;
and
-
Mel's car make it a
total of 10.01% of the total YTs ever know to have been made on this
site!
As usual we have a new
Picture of the Month, possibly a unique piece
of history! There are two
Reprinted Article for you to enjoy at the
start of this month: the first is a short article from
January 1997 from Practical Classics, and the other is a slightly longer article
from North American Classic MG Magazine (Fall 2005) on Don Matine's amazing
hotel, complete with MGs on display, including his Y - my kind of hotel and
there is no doubt where I will be staying if we get down your way Don!.
