MGCC (South West Centre) Drivers Championship

Summary of Regulations Issue date: 19 March 2007

1. Introduction

The objective of the MGCC (South West Centre) Drivers Championship is to encourage MGCC South West Centre members to enter a variety of events with their MGs. The Championship runs each year from 1st of Jan. to 31st of Dec. Eligible events are shown on the Centre's calendar.
There is no requirement to register for the Championship, all South West Centre members are automatically included.

2. Classes

The Championship is divided in to 5 classes as follows:

Class 1 - Vintage, MMM S, V, W
Class 2 - Y, T, Z, Farina Magnette
Class 3 - Midget, Austin Healey Sprite, Arkley
Class 4 - A, B, C, V8, RV8,
Class 5 - MGF, MGTF
Class 6 - Front Wheel drive (MG 1100, MG 1300, Metro, Maestro, Montego, ZR, ZS, ZT)

With the exception of the Austin Healey Sprite (Including the Mark 1), all cars in the Championship must be MG models.
The Championship includes an Overall Champion.
A competitors overall championship score takes accounts of results in all of the above 5 classes.
A competitor driving an Austin Healey Sprite or Arkley cannot be the Overall Champion.

3. Technical

Cars may be modified from standard, but the profile of the car must be easily recognisable as the standard car.
Spoilers and other aerodynamic aids are permitted, but kit cars or specials are NOT included in the Championship.

4. Scoring System

The number of events to count for the Championship will be a third of the number of events classed as championship events at the start of the season as published in the Centre's calendar. A competitors championship score is calculated for each event entered. (50 championship points is an average score for each event). A competitor may score a maximum of 50 bonus points, in the year. 10 bonus points will be awarded the first time the competitor starts each of the following types of event:

a) Autotest
b) Gymkhana
c) Speed (Hillclimb or Sprint)
d) Trial (PCT or Classic)
e) Concours or Pride of Ownership
f) Road Runs/Navigational Events

Notes:
i) All competitors entering road runs will score 50 points.
ii) Only the driver of a car will automatically score Championship points.
For events of types d), e) and f) where it is not possible to double enter the same car, the passenger/navigator is entitled to claim the same points as the driver.

5. Awards

The following and Annual awards will be presented:

i) Overall Champion
ii) First in each class
iii) Lady with highest Overall score
iv) Best Newcomer

Subject to 5 competitors in a class gaining points in the maximum number of events counting for the championship, a Second in Class Award will be presented.

6. Results

A summary of the final results will be published in the Centre's Safety Fast notes. A full list of results will be sent to Natter leaders. As the year progresses Championship positions will be sent to Natter leaders and posted on the Centre's web site www.mgcars.org.uk/mgccsw
