Just to explain; every member of the MG Car Club is allocated to one of the club's 13 regional centres that aim to bring together local MG enthusiasts so that they can participate in local events.

The South West Centre covers Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, Gwent, Glamorgan, Dyfed, Powys, the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands. This is a pretty tough challenge but as you can will from our 2008 calendar we have plenty to offer.

The Centre is run by members like you and we endeavour to arrange a variety of activities in which you can use your MG at minimum cost - what we used to call "Grass Roots" motorsport. Entering your first event may be a fairly daunting prospect however we do our best to be as friendly and accommodating as possible so don't be afraid to give the organiser of any event a call; tell him/her that you are new to all this, and s/he will help you.

Events in the calendar that are marked in bold type (or with a ‘C’ on the printed version) count toward our Driver's Championship. All Centre members entering one of these events automatically gain points; the member with the most points from five events wins the overall championship. In recent years 130 or so Centre members scored points, this year you could be one of them. As a guide last year the top 10 cars included Metro, ZS, ‘T’ types, Midgets, J2, MGF with the overall winner in a ‘Vintage’ 18/80 so you can see that there is room for all M.G.s of whatever age or condition. All you need to get going is a road worthy M.G., your club membership card and the £10 entry fee.

Your first contact with the Centre may well be at one of our monthly "Natters", these are pub gatherings where you can meet members socially. Attendances at these informal meetings vary from just a few to forty or so enthusiasts. Again, if you are new to all this, why not give the organiser a call first? See the "Natters" page for details
