AUTOTESTS & AUTOSOLOS

The SE Centre Autotest Challenge, for the Magic Midge Trophy, is awarded for the best performance over the Centre's annual events.

The Inter-Centre California Cup Autotests are run at Silverstone during the M.G.C.C. International Weekend. As well as individual awards, there are team prizes for the best Register performance as well as the major prize of the California Cup itself.

Weald Motor Club run a series of summer autotests on grass to which we are usually invited.

A new variation of Autotesting is the AutoSolo event - a bit faster than our usual events, and no reversing. We usually receive invitations to Farnborough District MC's  spring, summer and autumn events which appear on our Events page.

Other Centres also run Autotests at which you will be very welcome. Check the web sites, for example, those of the Abingdon Works and South West Centres.

RALLIES AND TREASURE HUNTS

We are  invited to a number of rallies each year. The very popular Regis Rally, run by Bognor Regis MC, is one in which M.G.s usually do very well. It is primarily a navigational road rally for historic cars but includes a few special autotest-like stages on the way. A bit more serious than our scatter rallies, but just as much fun.

Blackpalfrey Motor Club run a series of '12 car' regularity runs throughout the year to which MGCC members are invited. These provide a good introduction to navigational rallying.

The SE Centre Valentines Treasure Hunt and Spring Naviscat (scatter rally) are held in February and March respectively. Always well supported, these light-hearted events are very popular with members. Essentially a tour round the countryside seeking out clues to solve before meeting up for a friendly lunch in a local hostelry. Further Naviscats are run in June and October, while the Gribble Natter organise a popular Treasure Hunt in December each year.

If you enjoy Naviscats, don't forget that other centres organise them too. Check the web sites, such as the South West Centre.

PRODUCTION CAR TRIALS

Always popular, these events have historically provided the chance to be competitive in a standard road car on non-damaging grassland. However, the SE Centre has recently been unable to find a venue for our events. We receive invitations to several other clubs' trials each season, in particular those organised by the Weald Motor Club and Farnborough District MC, although the terrain for these is often a bit rougher than our preferred grassland. Contact Colin Reynolds for details.

Other Centres, such as the Midlands and South West, offer a series of events for those who like this sort of challenge.

SPEED EVENTS

The SE Centre no longer runs any sprint or hillclimb events itself, but several of our members compete in the M.G.C.C. Luffield Speed Championship each year, usually bringing home a few class awards - 2010 saw Howard Harman (P-type) and Martyn Phillis (MGA) both win their classes.

CIRCUIT RACING

The Club is extremely active in this aspect of the sport, and many South East Centre members participate at circuits all over the country in several keenly contested championships.
