Silverstone 2003

Almost 100 MGA's the 2 days of Silverstone 2003. 67 cars on Saturday and 51 on Sunday, we do not keep a detailed record of Registration numbers, but we estimated that less than half the cars were there on both days.
Regalia sales were excellent, especially the new blue polo shirt which is almost sold out. Only medium size left.  Takings on Saturday were more than £400, exceeding the total for both days in 2002.
As always the technical questions from members challenge the knowledge of those on the stand, but we usually find an answer from someone. To give a flavour of what goes on, here are two that I overheard, "how do I remove the master cylinder to change the seals?" "Can I convert my 1500 wire wheel back axle into a twin cam version?"
This year we ran a "car of the day" competition in place of the self judged concours. Pictures of the two winners are included on this page. The red car shows how to enhance the styling of an MGA and is certainly eye catching. By contrast the winner on Sunday is an outstanding example of a car restored to original specification (except the chrome wire wheels). By coincidence, both winners had driven a long way to be at Silverstone, Mark from North Devon and John from Tyneside. So no excuses next year, lets see more of you at Silverstone 2004.
During the weekend we took about 50 photographs of MGAs covering all of the colour and model combinations that were on show. Look out for these in our "Picture Gallery" to be added to this site soon.
