Marshalling
Without marshals the MG Car Club and other motor clubs would not be able to run events!
We're probably stating the obvious, but, as with everything in life, if we leave it to others, eventually there is no one to do the job . . .
So, how can you become involved and why should you?
To
help with the organisation of Lincolnshire Centre events such as Autotests,
Displays and our Summer Concours d'Elegance you need to email David
or John
They will be able to answer your questions and ensure you have a great time
. . .
To
help with marshalling at Race events you need to contact Clive Wayland, MGCC
Chief Marshal, on Tel: 01296 658786.
He will be able to tell about what is required and reassure you that you will
be with an experienced marshal until you've learnt the ropes.
And the answer to your question "Why should I become involved?"
To Be Close To the Action!
Whether you are marshalling at a Race Meeting, Autotest, Display or the Summer Concours, you will be close to the cars and the drivers. You will see what is happening before the spectators and be involved in making sure the event is safe for everyone concerned.
There is nothing quite so thrilling as waving a flag to inform a driver of an overtake or to warn about a danger ahead.
What will I need?
Marshals need to dress warmly especially at events such as the "Cadwell Downhill" where it can be a bit extreme. Thermal layers are ideal and strong boots are advisable. You don't need to be dressed in Bright Orange Overalls to be a Marshal. You do need the time to spare and the patience to learn what is required. You'll have a great day and, at some events, they give you a meal voucher for your Lunch and a ticket to get in!
To
recap, you'll be Close to the Action and help others have a great day.
