Lincoln Natter is held at the Horse & Jockey

High Street, Waddington, Lincoln, LN5 9RF.

Due to low numbers at the Waddington Natter this month, because of the weather, the "Unwanted Present Raffle" will be done at the March Natter instead of the Feely Bag Quiz. If you did manage to get to the Natter and buy tickets remember not to throw them away!

Landlord's Choice 2011

A bright evening and lots of MGs and happy owners gathered at the Horse & Jockey, Waddington, for the first in the series of Landlord's Choices on Friday 6 May 2011.
But there was a very special young visitor who had arrived a week early especially for the event (?!?) . . .

Jenson Hipkiss (one day old!) with his proud parents and Chairman David Stonehouse.

Social Drive 2 July 2010

Organised by Pete Lincoln, the Social Drive left the Horse & Jockey on a scenic route which included a ford - not the car! - a wet ford.

As you will see, some people drove more carefully through the ford than others!

Thanks to Pete for organising the drive and Roger & Anne O'Neill for the photos.

Rimmers visit Saturday 23 January 2010

The inevitable group photograph - Smile Please!

Words from John H, who went on the visit . . .
" The Rimmers visit was very interesting. 35 people attended. Andy of Rimmers took us on the tour, apparantly they employ 50 people, & from specialising in Triumph & Land Rover they moved to MG & Rover after the demise, taking on some of Wrights people and all of the XPart spares. They provide parts for other classics as well, & export all over the world."
Thanks to Roger O'Neill for organising the trip with Andy Mundy of Rimmer Brothers and Michael Turner for supplying the photographs.

New Year's Day 2010

Bright and sunny, Friday 1 January 2010 was the ideal day for a Run in the MG!
So thought over sixty MG enthusiasts who gathered at the Abbey Lodge, Kirkstead, around lunchtime. The afternoon continued in the same vein with two gaggles of MGs crossing the Lincolnshire countryside, sometimes on snow covered lanes!
The mystery finish venue turned out to be the Horse & Jockey and the conservatory was filled with chattering friends discussing their experiences on the run. A hot drink and Mince Pies kept us going until some decided a nice Dinner at the H&J was the answer to their prayers.
Thanks to Ian & Sue for organising the run, Bob & Carol for assisting in the lead cars for the two groups and John for being "Tail End Charlie". We all had a great time. What a way to start 2010!
Thanks for Sandra Turner for the photos

Christmas Dinner - Friday 4 December 2009
Good Food, Good Company & Food Fun!

Thanks for Roger & Anne for organising another great H&J event.

Going to the Dogs! . . .
A Night at Peterborough Greyhound Race Track . . .

The "Dogs Night" at Peterborough Greyhound Race Track on Friday 18th September was organised by Viv & Trev.

A good night was had by MGers of all ages.

Once fed & watered there was excitement in the air, bulging wallets at the ready!
14 races ensued.

Sometime later, wallets lighter & bellies even fuller, all were in agreement that a good time was had by all.

The last race was for charity it was a 'Human Dog Race' all in good fun . . .

Thanks to Viv & Trev S as new natter leaders for a job well done.

Lincs Lab Visit - Sunday 9 August

Lunch at the Woodcocks was followed by a short scenic drive to the Lincs Lab . . .

Steve explained each lab to us before moving onto the next . . .

Dawn was ready with the Tea, Coffee and homemade cake to round off a very interesting visit.

Steve had answered lots of questions on road surfacing and component parts, as well as the Lab's roll in Road Accident Investigation.

He even explained why the road from Frithville to Bunkers Hill is so undulating!

Thanks to everyone involved for a great day especially members of the Horse & Jockey Natter.

Photos taken by Sheila.

Summer Barbeque - Friday 7 August

The weather changed from cloudy and muggy with heavy rain up to Thursday to sunshine and blue sky for our Summer Barbeque.
An excellent turn out of MGs and their owners including several new members made the evening extra special.
Chef Ollie (above left) was busy with the giant Barbeque and Gracie & Pete (above right) were first to sample the Beefburgers.
As you will see from Sheila's photographs, there was a lovely selection of MGs and everyone had a great evening.
Special thanks to Roger, Anne & Sue, Luke, Rachael, Ollie & staff at the Horse & Jockey.

Don't miss next month's Natter at the Horse & Jockey on Friday 4 September . . .

Lincoln Natter.

Treasure Hunt Sunday 14 June -

Enjoying the sun at the Horse and Jockey before the Treasure Hunt (below) and plotting the route (right); Sue H shows new member Pete L how to use a romer to plot the points.

The Heritage Trail around Branston village was great and gave us all an insight into village life many years ago. The plaques pictured below all told a story of times gone by. The carved seats were specially made by a villager. Well worth a visit . . .

The mosaic near the church carpark tells the story of the village since Roman times and is beautifully put together.
The photograph of the village children shows the future in a very special way. The drive between the questions was lovely; we saw areas of Lincolnshire we'd never visited before and realised what a picturesque county we live in . . .

After the Treasure Hunt and Heritage Trail, we all gathered at the Horse and Jockey for Sunday lunch. Happy faces show that all the hard work Roger, Anne and John had put in to ensure the event went without a hitch were worth it.

After lunch, some members went back to Branston and parked on Roger and Anne's drive (left) showing you can get five MGF/TFs on a drive and very pretty they look too.

Thanks to Roger, Anne and John for organising the day for us all and to everyone who has supplied photographs from the day.

Landlord's Choice Evening Friday 1st May -

Wall to wall MGs filled the Horse & Jockey carpark and what a sight they made. The ideal spot for Enthusiasts to gather to chat about their pride and joy. Richard Sivill and Roger O had their cameras at the ready . . .

Chatting in the carpark while viewing the MGs on display.

Enjoying the Horse & Jockey hospitality - photo by Roger O.

Ghastly Goings On in Lincoln!

Roger (pictured left) organised a Ghostly Evening in Lincoln City starting with a visit to Browns Pie Shop at the top of Steep Hill for their Tea Time Special, which proved very popular with local members and visitors from Yorkshire (pictured below) alike.

Margaret (pictured with Roger) from Lincoln Ghost Walk was our informative guide and told us lots of history about our capital city as well as explaining which ghosts were where and what had been seen and heard . . .

One of the Ghosts decided to make a guest appearance as an orb in the photo of Lincoln Cathedral taken by Sheila Laurence (bottom left).

Our thanks to Roger for all his hard work organising the visit to Browns Pie Shop and the Ghost Walk.

Special thanks to Margaret, our guide,

The Horse & Jockey Natter in February saw almost thirty members enjoying the fun (top left).

A 'Feely Bag' Quiz kept everyone occupied and Viv and Trev Steadman were the winner (top right).

The Natter also saw Neil B (Left) being presented with the "Baitstrand Trophy" for services to marshalling by Assistant Competitions Secretary John H.

All photos supplied by Roger O; Steve & Dawn organised the 'Feely Bag' Quiz. Thank you all.

There's a lot to see and do in the coming months ...

Quiz Night
Friday 2 January

Anne O took on the mantle of Ann Robinson when she and Roger agreed to organise the Quiz Night. There was much scratching of heads as the pairs tried to find the answers in their 'little grey cells' . . .
It was Ian M who gained the highest score, so obviously our Honorary Treasurer is not 'the weakest link' . . .

Thanks to Anne and Roger for a night to remember.

Christmas Meal
Friday 5 December

The Christmas Celebration Meal was well attended and enjoyed by all.

Thanks to Roger & Anne for organising it with Luke the landlord at the Horse & Jockey.
