Gunby Hall - Sunday 20th April 2008
Drive Your Classic Day!

The new Lincolnshire Centre flag welcomes MGs
to Gunby Hall at National Drive Your Classic Day 2008
- it was a little damp!

MGs were guided to Gunby Hall by the Lincolnshire Centre's new Banner Flag . . .

It all started on 'National Drive Your Classic Day 2007' when John & Sheila Laurence drove their 1970 MGB roadster to Gunby Hall to celebrate this special day in the Spring sunshine.

A year of planning was to follow, led by David Stonehouse and supported by a willing band of helpers. Ray & Claire Ayres, custodians of Gunby Hall, pulled out all the stops to make the preparations easy and the day run like clockwork.

No one could have expected the weather gods to be so cruel on this special day for classic vehicle owners, especially after 2007's heatwave! Thermal underwear and outerwear would have been appropriate but almost everyone arrived in their 'pride and joy' and had a great time.

MGs from all over the country came to see this lovely National Trust property.

A choice of scenic drives from each corner of Lincolnshire arrived at Gunby Hall in time for lunch. There was a "Landlord's Choice" Pride of Ownership, a Treasure Hunt including an opportunity to stroll around the gardens and also a Guided Tour of the house. Soup, Tea & Coffee on Arrival, followed by Lunch & Afternoon Tea were provided at Gunby Hall.

VICTOR WOOD OFFERS THE PUBLIC THEIR FIRST CHANCE TO SEE NEW MG

An open day was held on Saturday 20 September 2008 making Victor Wood of Grantham one of the first dealerships in the country to offer the public the opportunity to see the new MGTF LE500 sports car at close quarters.

Dealer Principal, Pat Oldham, said, “When the MG TF was last available, it was the most popular small sports car in the country. Now re-designed, re-engineered & built in Britain and with a level of specification that is well above its competitive set, we expect the LE500 to quickly regain that position.”

Interest in the new MG has been unprecedented and early reviews of its performance have re-assured enthusiasts and new drivers alike that the TF has lost none of its road appeal. The LE500 designation will only be given to the first 500 individually numbered cars which will be entirely hand built. The resulting vehicles will be some of the highest quality product to ever leave the world famous Longbridge production line.

A mixture of pent up demand and great value has meant that nearly 400 of the LE500 cars have already been sold. Many people are expected to come to the open day simply to witness the re-launch of one of the best known and loved brands in British motoring. A lucky few will walk away with a new car that will instantly become one of the most contemporary collectables on the road today.

Two classic MGs were provided by MG Car Club members to enhance the experience - a red MGA and the last of the MG Rover MGTFs in a pretty shade of blue.
Our thanks to Robert & Hazel for supplying the cars.
