I still recommend line boreing the main bearing bores to bring the main bearing clearance to the minimum recommended.001", if i remember correctly. Then hand fitting the upper slinger to the crankshaft with a no interference fit, this will need to be done with a bearing scraper. Attention to detail of assembly their after will result in almost no leaks. Then use the narrow width front lip seal as...

Thanks, Larry. The MG Guru site is amazing, and overwhelming. I suspect before I do anything on the car, Ill have to check what the site has to say. Anyway, I am not too worried about the dog legs and lower panels, as long as the frame it okay, and even if there are problems with that, it seems that now days with Mig welders, that can be addressed. As mentioned, its been a lot of years since I ...

I finished wifey's '50 TD glove box door with stainless as the veneer was trash by the time I took possession of the components. Fit was perfect when fabricated in the winter months. There is no pull knob. In order to open it, you push it in and it pops open.

On hot, humid days, the dash & door swell just enough to create an interference fit. That friction thwarts opening the glove comp...

    Dominic et al..
I have been following this thread keenly as I have a Judson awaiting installation and the SU idea is a great one. I have bought a good nick HIF 44 carb but it is still in Blighty to be shipped soon ( arrival in 1 to 2 weeks !). In the interim I have been keen to progress and have following the purchase and consumption of David Vizard's book of wisdom and rules I have come up wi...

I hauled a 180A Pickhill oil cooled welder home in my frogeye and at other time various engines, gearboxes etc. Always found it handy to be able to take the seat base out and chuck it in the boot, good to have some cardboard handy to protect the seat back as well. The welder supplier gave me a strap to tie it to the roll bar for safety as well.

Sigh... bet there were some good parts left on that one.

Yeah, it was probably beyond help, but it still hurts to see one bite the dust.

Gee I hauled a fridge home in mine once...
Of course it was a mini-fridge that became my Kegerator!

    Ah Friday at last!!!

Glory be, there's a Midget in the latest issue of Autoweek, on the last page where the humorous stuff appears. The "Moving Miscue" for this week is a Midget with a tree in the passenger seat, which doesn't seem all that outlandish to me. Looks like a rather nice de-bumpered 1500. Do any of you recognize it? The driver's door is standing open, so I assume the owner shot the photo.

    Cheers,

I have a Bugeye engine here and it has the ID number tag.
Is there a way to get the Car ID number (VIN over here) from that?

  • 1967 MGB RED

I find it fitting that it was from this site that I found and bought this car in 2002. It has been a joy to own and drive. I've met wonderful people along the way, and enjoyed meeting strangers as they admired the car.

Alas, family changes mean it is time to sell. I'll post pics later, or email me directly.

This is a 1967, in wonderful shape. It has run like a top since day one...
