Welcome !

Welcome to theCambridge and District MGOC Web Pages, hosted at MG- The Classic Marque.
2003 was be a major milestone for The Cambridge and District MGOC as we went into our 8th year on the world wide web.
2004 will our 9th year. We are now the longest running MGOC area club on the internet!. We were almost certainly, one of the first MG Clubs, to go onto the internet. In the begining it was just this small, single home page (now deleted) hosted on this site kindly by Mike Plumstead, more recently the site underwent a major facelift, and now continues to grow on an almost daily basis. So! remember to set your bookmark and make it a habit to visit us at least once a week!

These now are probably the most popular 'Club Web Pages' in the world. At one time we were happy with 50-60 visitors a week, at our peak we have had on average 800 visitors a week. In recent times, with so many more MG website to choose from, we get about 400 vistors a week, which is still pretty good!

Our most popular pages are the Image Gallery and our Technical Tips
These pages are made up using lots of contributions, not only from own our club members here in Cambridge, but also by MG enthusiasts from around the world!.

We are a vey active club, with an energetic committee, now led by the clubs area secretary David Parker. Other 'hard working' members include , Ray Bossom (former club secretary) Robin & Joyce Rayner & Jeremy Mustoe. Even during the winter months we will still remain active, with many members driving their MG's on a daily basis!

Club Activities

We hope that 2002/3 will prove to be a another busy and succesful year. The Cambridge & District MGOC has always maintained a high profile in the MG World, always tryin to keep active. Way back in early January 1997, a visit of several club members to the assembly line at Longbridge, where the all new MGF was being assembled.
You will find a report in the February 97 Newsletter with an exclusive picture from inside the plant. Since then the plant was nearly closed, but now seems to have a new lease of life with new MG Models launched in 2001.

The Club Committe

Our Club committe, works in the interest of all its members and the response to its efforts have been tremendous. All of our club meetings, whether at a pub, or at the weekend on a run, have all been well attended, happy a successful.
Whilst the committe generally attempts to work out a schedule of events which will be of interest to everyone, ideas from new, existing and particularly our younger members, are always welcome.

Here in Cambridge our club a membership topped 60 (April 99). We seem to get at least one new member at every meeting. We are also a truly International Club! One of our members, was Oliver who joined us about 18 months ago, and came from Germany. He was working locally at the University, for a couple of years. When he first joined he did not own an MG, but after a hard search he found the car of his dreams, an MG Midget in BRG. Other members in the club have their roots in Holland. Oliver found us via the internet, which is pleasing, as one of the main aims with our web presence, was and still is to attract new members. And now, several other club members have a computer, and are begining to come on-line, so expect a few more contributions from other club members. Oliver has now returned to Germany, takeing home his MG Midget.

Throught the year we try to make a big effort do more in our MG's. One of our first 'Out & About' events of the new season is always our Easter run. Our first one was back in March 1997. This is the report of the very first Easter Run If you browse thru our pages you will find reports on later events
If you missed this years run, not to worry, its now an annual event.
Here is a report by club member Jeremy Mustoe of the Kimber Run '97, this was it's tenth year.

Another big event for us was MG'97. This was MGOC's National Event. Read about what we got up to MG 97.... And here's what we got up to the previous year at MG'96

Plans for 2000 and even 2001 are all ready underway, watchout for details on our club trips and outing throughout the year.
We value your continued to support, & look forward to meeting you at some of the many events throughout the year, up and down the country see Events, the Cambridge and District MGOC also has a full events calendar of it's own, please see the Club Diary

If you are at any of these events, don't be shy, please come and introduce yourself!
Ask either for Ray Bossom, our area secretary, or myself, Kelvin Fagan. I am usually wearing my MG Enthusiasts Baseball Cap, so I am easily picked out from the rest of the crew at Cambridge. We all wear a very smart Sweat-Shirt/T-Shirt in a very fetching 'Cambridge Blue' which sports our club logo.
