Simons V8 Project

Early in 1996 Simon Morley, a member of the Cambridge & District MGOC and the original creator of these pages decided that it was time to treat himself and his MGB GT to a V8 conversion. Simon undertook quite a bit of research in the first instance which has now been made available for all to share.
So it's over to you Simon....

Introduction.
I currently own a 1978 MGBGT which is pretty much in standard trim......
This however is about to change...
The standard MGBGT has a lot to offer, it is a fun car to drive, fairly responsive etc, but you could never accuse it of being a high performance machine. This is why I have decided to convert my standard GT into a V8. We all know its possible, others have done it I know, but I haven't and don't have a clue where to start....

There are a number of things which will need changing on the car before the V8 lump gets shoe-horned into position. The bodywork, brakes, suspension etc will all need attention. I plan to update this page with details on how the project is going so drop in from time to time and see how things are progressing. I will be including photo's, explanations, comments etc which may prove useful to anybody else considering the same conversion.

The final car will consist of -

If you think I should maybe add something to this list, If you have done this conversion yourself, Please drop me a mail and point out any pitfalls you came across, I'm sure myself and other converters will be only too happy for any input or tips that are available.
I'll try and add some photo's of the car as it goes through the various stages of transformation.
