Rays Roundup Lets Go Racin!

Rays Roundup
by Ray Bossom

Seasonal greetings from all of us here in Cambridge!
I've recently had my head converted to 'Unleaded', my cylinder head that is, as now the Midget has been tucked away in the garage for the winter months, so its a good time of year to have such modifications done, while the car is having its winter break.
Why you may ask have I done such a thing? Well for a start, we have only have a few months until leaded petrol becomes a rare commodity, although we are assured that additives will be available. My own opinion is that eventually Petrol Stations that are willing to stock Leaded may well be few and far between, if sales are low. The rush may soon be on to have your engines modified, so before the queue gets too long, and the price goes up, perhaps you should consider having a conversion sooner rather than later!

Recent Club Meetings
Our 'Feely Bag' night was a sight for sore eyes, there they were! (24 club members) staring into the distance and muttering, trying to figure out what the hell these items were, sealed up in a cloth bag. We had some help from the diners in the pub, who were still scoffing as our club filled up the back bar of the Lion & Lamb at Milton. I have heard a rumour that next years competition will be a little easier. SEE THROUGH bags!! Thanks to Bob & Myriam for another greats night fun..

The Past 12 Months
Our Cambridge and District MGOC have had another excellent year, with a good turnout at our Club Runs and also our Natter Nights We have also had a few changes, a new home Pub, a new Magazine Editor, a new Club Secretary (yours truly) and our first Club Chairman.

Lets Go Racin!
by Kelvin Fagan

Most of you that read this newsletter on a regular basis know of both my, and our clubs interest with MG motor sport. The Cambridge & District has its very own own 'motor ace' the clubs Chairman, Brian Fish

Brian recently took part in the Birkett Six Hour Relay Race, at Snetterton in Norfolk. Both myself and other members of the Cambrige MGOC were there to lend a hand!

Do I look cold or what! It was October 31st, and it was to be one of the wettest weeknds of the year, if not the decade!! The Birket Six Hour Relay Race, began at 10am and it rained, and it rained, and it rained. It was also very cold! You can see from the expression on club member Dave Revell's face, just how cold it was. Both myself, Dave and Darren were taking in turns to stand on the pit wall, giving signals to our team drivers out on the circuit. The pit wall at Snetterton offers no protection from the elements, and we all got very wet.
Team MGB, had two teams of cars, and had some very well known names from the world of MG Motor Sport, including Brian (no stopping me) Pickford and Barry (sideways) Sidery-Smith. There was a total four teams racing MGs. Teams MGB 1 & 2, the 'Millennium Midgets' and 'Girl Power', who were back once more. I followed their fortunes last year Girl Power 97
