Cambridge & District MGOC members at the Newmarket Bowling Alley Our first meeting of November 2003 was a quiet chat over a pint in the Green Man, in Shepreth (adjacent to the A10 & opposite the Garden centre) with a raffle organized by Joyce, which gave us all a rest before our next meeting, when we took on each other at Ten pin bowling, which in previous years has been strongly contended with plenty of friendly banter between each other. This year was no exception, with the stakes being raised even higher than before, with a magnificent golden trophy up for the winner. You could tell as soon as you walked into the hall that this was going to be quite a battle, with most of us now bowling on a regular basis (well at least once a year). As the evening bowled along (awful pun, sorry!) the lead changed several times between Robin, Jeremy, Mark, Peter and David C, although at one point I did think that the ladies were going to show us a thing or too. In the final stages of the competition a clear leader could be seen to pull away from everyone else and go onto win the magnificent trophy that will be treasured by David C for many years, and well done to Mark for coming second, with Peter & Jeremy a joint close third.
