Under New Management! Harrogate'98 Letter from Canada

Under New Management!

Hello, let me introduce myself. As you can see from above I have taken over as Area Secretary from Brian Fish who has now become our first Chairman. Our thanks to Brian who in recent years has brought about a dramatic increase in our club membership, so much so, that we outgrew our home pub and have now moved on to the Lion & Lamb at Milton, on the outskirts of Cambridge. We look forward to seeing you at our new venue.

Now afew comments on recent events: Those who attended the Haverhill Show were invited to their MG, by doing a lap of honour around the main arena. This is our third year at Haverhill.
The Club Concours had three categories this year, and the winners each won a set of soft luggage.
The Area Secretary's Annual BBQ was attended by 30+ members and was of a Caribbean flavor, with fancy dress and food. The Limbo dancing was a sight for sore eyes!!
The Pitch & Putt evening winner were Sarah (1st) and Alf (2nd) who went round the course in the highest number of strokes, so were deemed to have made the MOST use of the facilities that evening!
By the time this goes to press, some members will have been to France, Coys Festival, An evening Run, Gaydon MG Day, Harrogate'98 and Punting on the river Cam.
How time flies when your "Simply the Best"

Harrogate'98

Early August in North Yorkshire, and its time once more for the Harrogate MG Club annual show. Held over two days, this is a popular event, with a chance to go on a drive around the Yorkshire Dales on Saturday, and a party later on in the evening, which this year had a 'Western' theme, with many people in fancy dress as Cowboys and Cowgirls!! (or should that be Cowpersons!)
The Cambridge & District MGOC had just one representative there this year, Kelvin and his family, who now takes his annual holiday in the area to coincide with the event!

In the the Cavalcade

For those MGers whose chose to go on the Scenic Dales Run on Saturday, the weather was perfect, sunshine and blue skies, sadly the weather for the main event on sunday was not so kind, and those people with umbrellas were able to put them to good use.

This is the Harrogate MG Club's 13th show, this year incorporating the MGOC Northern National, which in the past has been a seperate event, bringing the two together seemed a logical idea! As in previous years, proceeds from the event are donated to a local charity.
Another great show, well done Harrogate!

Letter from Canada

We recenctly recieved this letter from Simon Forshaw in Canada, can anyone offer any advice

I am compiling any information available regarding 1932-34 MG PB I have visited your Web site and noticed you hadn't any file photos of this car. I am not 100% sure of the year or the model. Only that it is within these dates, it's a MG and I think it's a MG PB. I am relying on someone else's memory of it, and photos (which I am waiting for copies of and will forward to you if you wish) both of which are about 40 years old

Ideally I would like to find one that is in restorable condition and have it brought to North America. I have a mechanic here that worked extensively on British vehicles from this era and would very much like the opportunity to work on one.

I would also like to obtain models, photos, parts (preferably original), copies of technical drawings, repair manuals, magazine ads and anything else associated with this car. Sources I could contact to find information on, or to purchase any of these items from would be great. It would also be helpful to have the name and publishers for any books about this car and other MG's from this era. As I live in CANADA you might well imagine that my access to such material and information is limited.

Any help you might render in this regard would be most appreciated. The mechanic that I referred to earlier in the letter is my father. He is currently retired and desperately in need of a hobby. I know the one great regret of his life was the selling of his MG before coming to CANADA. And he just might put me back in his Will if I am successful.

Sincerly
Simon Forshaw
