Editorial Concours de' Elegance

'Editorial'

Firstly I must announce that Brian Fish has decided to step down from the position as 'Club Area Secretary'. Brian has done a fantastic job with the club in recent times and his talent for motivating ALL the club members will be missed. Area Secretarys' are an important part of the MGOC network, the link in the chain between the MGOC HQ at all the local clubs around the UK. It is a difficult job, and after a day at the office you can find yourself coming home and starting all over again, answering the phone and writing back to the many show organisers who ask for the club to exhibit our MGs'.
I personaly would like to thank Brian on behalf of the clubs committee, and all the other club members, you will be a hard act to follow, thankyou for all your hard work, it is appreciated by all the local members, we know how hard you have worked. Now that you will no longer be disturbed in the evenings, it will give you a little more time outside in the garage preparing the race car.
Ray Bossam has kindly offered to take on the job as Area Secretary, in the short term at least! You never know he might like the job, and perhaps make it permanent?

Several members made the annual pilgrimage to the Epsom MGOC event, held at the Leisure Centre, Leatherhead. I went for the first time this year, sadly it raned and rained and rained. I also I did not take a camera, but our good friend Chris Nevard was there, he has put together a small pictorial review here: Surrey 98

A selection of pictures taken last month at the Lion & Lamb, Milton, Nr Cambridge.

A pleasant summers evening, and a English village pub, the perfect ingredients for our annual 'Club Concours' The car park at our revised venue, the Lion & Lamb, was full. The MG's always draw a crowd, many from the customers of the pub came out and gave our cars a quick inspection too. We had 3 categories this year to simplify the judging. The best chrome bumpered MG, best rubber bumpered MG and the best 'modern' MG. We were all given a voting slip, voting for your own car was not allowed.. After about three quarters of an hour, the votes had been cast and then counted, club secretary announced the winners..

  • Best Chrome.. Ray Bossam..MG Midget
  • Best Rubber.. Linda & Dave Revell..MGB Roadster
  • Best Modern..Jackie Deakin..MGF
Yours truly missed winning the best modern MG (MG Maestro) by just 2 votes, maybe next year!!
