'Ray's Ramblings'

Important reminder for club members:
The 'Club Concours' will be on held Monday July 5th, at the 'Green Man' Shepreth

Having just returned from a very wet Sunday at Billing Aquadrome and torrential downpours on the way home, it is a harsh reminder as to changeable the British weather can be! Last Friday, in the midst of a heatwave, a small party of Cambridge & District MGOC members made there way to Billing to grab a 'Prime' pitch or two for the weekends events, making sure there was enough room in their cool boxs to keep the refreshment cool. On arrival tents were erected, along with a trailer tent pulled by an MG Midget would you believe. The Cambridge MGOC had arrived!!

Saturday evenings entertainment, with one band who were a take off of 'Status Quo' were reported as terrific. Good service at the bar and the beer was cheap too!!
Saturday morning and not too many hangovers, though breakfast did take up most of sunday morning. Overall the venue seemed to be a good one, perhaps we can see it returning here next year, but without the rain, which did spoil many of the planned events throughout Sunday.

Our resident photographer has put together a few pictures, not as many as we would expect normally, but keeping the lens and camera dry did prove to be a problem

Our Golf/Putting evening on Monday 21st June also suffered from inclement weather, but we did manage to get a round in between the showers. After nine holes at Kingsway Golf Range we retired to our home pub just down the road for the prize giving. The mens trophy was awarded to Dave, and the ladies award to Linda. 'The Best value For Money Award' (getting more strokes in than anyone else) went to Peter & Jane.

Our resident photographer and webmaster Kelvin, tells me he has had a very busy month. He has a passion for motorsport, MG Motorsport, and during this last month he has coverd three more MGOC Championship Races. Rounds 4 & 5 in France at Croix-en-Ternois. Round 6 at Anglesey and Round 7 at Lydden Hill and some MGCC racing at Silverstone.
Our club chairman Brian Fish, continues to make progress in the Anglia Phoenix Championship, racing an MGB GT.

Another of our members, Dave North, is currently competing in a Classic Car Rally series in his MGB Roadster, subject to confirmation, he thinks he is winning his class. Apparently the series he is competing in, is being covered on the WWW, but as yet we dont have a link. More news on Dave perhaps next month. And staying with motorsport, a new member to the club, Neil Turner, races an MG Montego in Sprints and Autotests, we look forward to some news from Neil in the not too distant future!.
That all folks!!
