Life Begins At Forty!
by Kelvin Fagan
This was originally scheduled as the night for Go- Karting, which sadly had to cancelled (perhaps we can go later in the year?), so our alternative night was switched to our old stomping ground, the 'Golden Ball' at Boxworth.
The evening at the Golden Ball proved to be a great success with
over 30 members turning out & spending there hard earned cash, at the bar!
Again it was nice to see yet more new faces, as well as the usual regulars.
The evening gave us all a chance to review some of the up and coming MG
events over the coming weeks and months.
The social committee will be meeting in the second week in May, if there is
anything you would like to bring to their attention then perhaps you could
let Jacqueline Deakin have the details. I think we now have a date for a
visit around the photo works in Newmarket later in the year.. this to be
confirmed by Colin Buckler!..
MG'97...Duxford.
If you have not yet put your name down for marshalling duties at MG 97
(Duxford) and would like to do so, then please get your name down the

Volunteer's from the Net!
If there are any of our readers on the net who would like to lend a hand
marshalling at Duxford then please let us know. It will involve you giving
up perhaps a couple hours of your time on Sunday June 1st to help the
Cambridge MGOC to get the 1000's of MG's parked successfully!

A bit of catching up to do, so here goes...
March and April was another busy time for the our club. We had the feely bag competition
organised by Bob & Miry Thomson, although some of the answers were beyond belief,
outright winners turned out to be to be Celia for the mechanical parts, & Ray guessing
most of the Kitchen utensils correctly!!!!! (what a versatile lot you are)
Linda Revell must be thanked for organising our evening meal at St. Neots & one can
only say what good value for money, I am sure we will be returning to the 'New Inn' at
St. Neots in the not too distant future!
To round off March, we had the Easter Run, which was another success story, having
24 cars in attendance, including some visitors, one of which had driven up from
Gloucester. During the Run we visited a very well known Rolls Royce dealership, P &
A Wood, at their premises in Great Eastern, Nr Dunmow, Essex.
It was here that we leaned that some owners think very little of spending £150K on a
rebuild. The Day was well organised, enjoyable and the sun shone for most of the time,
all but two cars had their lids off, even on the way home.
Many thanks to Geoff Haagman for organising the day, and to Chris Bull at P & A
Wood for his splendid educational tour.
The Photographic Competition on April 7 was won by Kelvin, featuring a picture of my roadster, thanks to all those that entered into the spirit of the evening, and to Jeremy for organisng it so well.

Brooklands MG Day
by Martin Woods
A few members from Cambridge were able to attend the 'Brooklands MG Day', but the following report is from our friend Martin Woods, from Reading. Martin has been kind enough to supply a few words on 'his' day at Brooklands.
Brooklands was an excellent day out as far as I was concerned. It started out with a group of various MG's from the Reading MGOC, we met at the Chequers Pub at Eversley Cross. We then drove in convoy (10-4 Rubber Duck!) to Brooklands Motor Museum.
On arrival I heard a familar voice, it was Caroline, hollering a greeting at me from her new Tahiti Blue MGF from the adjacent lane. As soon as we got through the gates, visitors were invited to blast up the test hill. Caroline in her new MGF had to keep the revs down as she is still running in! At the top of the hill we found ourselves on the historic banked race track. We stopped up on the banking to take some photos
After the photos we went to find an appropriate parking spot, the alloted MGF area was full, so we started a second area nearby. After meeting a few other MGF owners, I then spent the rest of the day wandering around and looking at all the hundreds of MG's, I even had time to buy my wife a Red MG baseball hat,and a couple of enamel badges from the MGOC stand.
It was a great day, even the sun was out, I had the sunburn to prove it!
