May News

The 12th April was the date of our Easter Monday run to the Warrior King site at Sutton Hoo, we all met up at the Comfort Café on the A11 where Alan gave out his excellent route map, with our first scheduled stop at Stonham Barns, for a cup of tea and a spot of retail therapy!!

Now if you look closely at this very nice white MGF you can see a very patient, and well behaved passenger, which is a good job since her owner has just locked the keys in the boot, opps!, thank heavens for mobile phones, and a spare set of keys at home. Because the weather was so good Sutton Hoo was quiet busy, however Alan had the foresight to pre book a parking area and a guide to show us around, which made for a very pleasant day.

Our Monday meeting on the 19th April was a presentation given by club member Ron. His talk was on Car Museums that he has visited around the UK, and this he presented to the group via a power point slide show, accompanied with handouts of where all the museums are, and what you can expect to find in them. For instance did you know that on the Royal Sandringham estate you can see some of the former Royal Cars.

EDL were chosen by MG Rover to develop the K Series engine for the X-Power brand. The K2000 engine made a debut at an autosport show fitted inside a rally car, with a quoted 210 bhp. The engine has been further developed and now powers the 'Independant', West Surrey Racing entered MG ZS cars, in the 2004 British Touring Car Championship, driven by Anthony Reid and Colin Turkington. Below are a few photos, by Kelvin, of his visit.
