May News

The 5th May was our first meeting which should have been a treasure hunt, however the weather was so poor that we decided to meet up at the pub for a pint & chat, as it happened some new members came along and also a couple with a very old MG midget who happened to be passing (we do hope that you appear again!) which created a very pleasant evening of conversation with some new faces. The Boulles evening on the 19th May was well supported even though the weather was still threatening rain, what ever happened to the weather in May! Anyway I would like to thank Mark for the challenging game of Boulles, and I can see that some of us need to practice a little before the next time that we play…….just wait till we play golf some time…… Watch out for next month when I report on how our Concors event went at Melbourn Village College.

For a bit of fun can anyone tell me where I saw this MGB, the owner told me that he was "half way through restoring it!" it certainly was an extremely interesting MGB, which they tell me that you can actually drive…..I wonder if you only have to pay half the road tax!

I can also report that I have managed to persuade Robin to sell me the recondition engine and gearbox out of his scraped MGB GT, so on the 28th May Robin and myself spent the morning removing the engine and gearbox in one lump…..I asked Robin how many engines he had removed from cars, to which he replied with an air of authority…" quiet a few" however it was not until we where lifting it out that he let it slip that he had never removed an engine and gear box at the same time…..as you can see from the pictures all went well.

Next month I will let you know how we got on putting this unit in my Red MGB GT.
