Parkers Piece!

New Years Day Run

The 1st of January saw the New Years Day run, which is a chance to see the New Year in the MG way, by doing what we like best, having a drive in our shiny machines, well they were when we started, the weather soon made them a bit dirty. Our Annual run takes us just a few miles down the road to Barrington, where the Veteran Car Club alway meet on the first day of the New Year.
We spent well over an hour looking around the car park, with cars spilling out onto main road, there are so many. Due to wet weather vehcles were not this year allowed to park on the village green!
As the the skies darkened and the rain came, we moved onto another of our favourite haunts 'The Red House' where we had booked a 'LARGE' plate of sandwichs and a 'Chips' to keep the hunger pangs at bay!
All in all a very good day.

Pub Review (External Link)

The 6th January was our first Monday meeting of the year, which got off to a great start with a “feely bag” compertion, with two bags of “car” parts and one of make-up bits & pieces for the “ladies” although all the teams had a go at all the bags it was a close contest on the “ladies” bag, with Carol & Clare only just beating the man's teams by only ONE point. I think that some of the ladies where a bit surprised how much the men actual know about there make-up (we will have to keep our eye on this).

Normal service had been resumed for our meeting on the 20th January with a great tournament of “jenga” such a simple game certainly produced an air of tension, with a hush of silence, breath held and all eyes watch as you gently easy out that block, occasionally stopping to have your brow mopped, and to check that the tower was still intact followed by a great cheer as you managed to place that block on top without the tower collapsing, it is amazing just how much a tower can “wobble” without falling down. The last match was between Clare and Joyce, and it has to be said that they showed us how it's done, with there steady hand and thin fingers that can slid the blocks out much better than us fat fingered species !
