Ray's Ramblings! MG In 2001? The Big Freeze

Rays Ramblings

I hope you all had an enjoyable Christmas, and that once again Santa filled your stockings to the brim!!! In the run up to Christmas the club had its annual party, which inclued a festive dinner! We had a change of venue this year, no big hotel this year as we decided to have our christmas party at our regular meeting place 'The Green Man' at Shepreth, which lies on the Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border.

Everyone that attended had a really good time, the traditional christmas menu was excellent value, and cooked to perfection! Our thanks to Wendy the landlady, and also to her staff. I think we may have already booked the tables for 2001!

Club member Neil Turner finally had the article about the Cape to Cape Challenge printed in the the main MGOC magazine, which is availe to read. The article was written by fellow team member John Dalton. Click Here

2001 will see the dawn of a new era for MG. MG Rover are working hard at this very moment to produce a new range of MGs. First we will see a new range of saloons, and then an improved MGF. The saloons will not be just 'badged' saloons from the current Rover portfolio. Yes no doubt the current model will be getting a 'facelift' but the it will go a lot further than a set of alloys and some MG logos on the seats, steering wheel and bonnet. MG Rover are wise enough to know that the press and public will not be fooled with a partial makeover!

MG are also set to return to Le Mans, for the fist time since the 1960's.
Stay tuned to this web site for all the up todate news, as we are on the press release circulation list. Though we get the same press release, we can, unlike the magazines, publish all the latest news within hours, if not miutes of the press realease arriving!

The Big Freeze

Winter arrived with a vengence just 2 days after Christmas, bringing snow & with it chaos to the road network of the UK.

A motorist clears snow from his car   This main road is just passable!
Weather conditions like this are (s)no(w) joke!!

Motorist ( MG Owners included) are advised to only make essential journeys. Make sure the car is in tip top condition, also carry some blankets and put a spade in the boot just in case you have to dig your way out of a snow drift! The other essential item to carry in your pocket is the mobile phone! Safe Journey!
