 Introduction

This weekends rounds of the MGOC Custom Lifts Championship were run in memory of former 'TRIPLE' champion Terry Farman. Terry is perhaps the most popular driver the championship has ever known, He began his racing career in the MGOC championship back in 1989. Terry raced in over 120 rounds, winning 33 of those races. He also took the overall championship title three times, 1991, 1997 and 1999. Terry also spent time competing in the MGF Cup, and the International Spridget Championship.

TERRY FARMAN   TERRY AT THRUXTON

Terry competed in Class B in an MG Montego before moving to Class A in both a 1275 and 1500 Midget
Terry is remembered this weekend by his fellow competitors and friends, he was a true supporter of the championship, and is sadly missed in the paddock. Mick Mercer, a long time friend and rival of Terrys donated prize money and trophies for the 1 hour 2 driver race to held on Sunday 30th September. (see seperate report)

 Class A Race Result

Rain, rain and more rain made driving conditions very difficult during this race!
It was David Gathercole who shone thru the rain clouds in his newly painted MG Midget as he made his way to the front.
At the end of 10 laps Gathercole had a comfortable 7 second lead over second placed man Paul Naish, also in an MG Midget.
Sinclair and Pollard who had both started on the front row of the grid fell by the wayside. The usual front runners of the class were too no where to be seen, title contenders Lorraine Clark and Gary Smith both did poorly in the wet conditions, though Gary just had the edge on Lorraine on the day! A greasy, wet track had suited Lorraine, and had only managed to qualify a disappointing 8th. Just as the race was called the rain started again, having been drying over the previous couple of hours, Lorraine opted for fairly well treaded dry tyres. Ten fraught laps later, the race was over and Lorraine settled for 6th, Garytook 5th, which now takes him into the lead of the championship.

  •  Class B & F Race & Result

This race did not have the same amount of rain as Class A, but the track was still very wet!
Everyone got away from the startline safely as did Andy Campbell only he started from the pitlane. Andy had alternator and starter problems earlier in the day during practice and was forced to start from the pit lane making him last, but as you can see from the final results below he stormed through the field to fininsh in the number five spot. The two ment on the front row both spun out on the first lap. Mickweidner going off at 'Riches' and Paul Naish spinning off at 'Russell' . Nick Evans to on the role of race leader, and looked as if he would go the distance, with a comfortable lead in the early stages. James Perry though was on a flyer and closed up on Evans, eventually passing him to take a well desrved win.
