On the 2nd of October around 10 of us took part in the Games Night. It
was just an excuse for meeting in the pub and playing some games, with
Jenka being very popular. It is amazing just how many of the blocks can
be lifted out and replaced on the top, before gravity wins and they all
come tumbling down.
Two weeks later we held our AGM. There were the usual reports from the
chairman, secretary, treasurer and the event organiser. We obviously did
our jobs well because all .the officers were duly re-elected to extend
their good services for another year. However, there is the prospect of
an opening for the position of chairman (could be female of course!) next
year. The membership at the AGM discussed various things they would like
to do next year. Many ideas were heard and amongst these was a club trip
to the other side of the channel Alan, our event organiser, made quite
a few notes. Our charity for the past year was MAGPAS. For the coming
year we agreed to change this to the Huntingdon, Peterborough & Cambridge
Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre. One of our members gets a lot of support
from them. We put it to the vote and the result was unanimous. We agreed
that each year we will select a different charity. Robin and Joyce joined
us all the way from France. We were all pleased to see them, they look
so well. Life in France seems to really suit them both.
Next year’s event program is under consideration and Alan has firmed
up the Snowdrop run for Saturday 17 February 2007. This year, the Run
will be from Wimpole Hall to Audley End House and Gardens, a distance
of approximately 30 miles. Audley End is a Jacobean House (House Closed
for Winter period) the Grounds were designed by Capability Brown. We invite
all makes of Classic Cars to join us in this event. The entry fee will
be £15.00 per car including occupants. Also included are the entrance
to Wimpole Hall Grounds and to Audley End Estate with Official Guide Book,
a rally plaque, route map and official photograph of each car taken in
front of Wimpole Hall. All proceeds of this Event will be donated to the
Huntingdon, Peterborough & Cambridge Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre.
