Christmas Dinner

December was a quiet month, apart from a very entertaining Christmas dinner in Ashwell and Morden. A great turn out of over 30 members enjoyed the food, the wine, the balloons that make rude noises as they fly through the room, and the little trumpets that emit just one tone but which did not dissuade many of us to chime in with the music that played in the background. If our children had seen us, they’d have told us to grow up! But this is what Christmas dinner parties are for, aren’t they. Thanks again to Alan for organising the event.

New Years Day 2007
As is now tradition, the 1st of January 2007 is the date for our New Year Day’s Run. We started at Wimpole Hall this year, where some 14 cars gathered, many with the tops down. It was by far the largest New Year Day’s gathering we’ve seen for some time. We parked up in a muddy field and set off for the restaurant. After a coffee and a bun, we set out for Great Barrington where a large number of classic cars gather every year (if snow and ice and salt do not prevail that is). We parked in a long “B-line” along the road, admired the collection of classic cars, and chatted with their proud owners. After a couple of hours, many set off for The Black Horse in Dry Drayton to warm up and have a hot lunch. As the sun was setting, we all took to the cars to go home. It was lovely to be able to wish everyone a happy New Year in person.
