I always wanted a coupe. If a restorable one came my way, I'd have a hard time walking away from it. PJ

  • P. Jennings28 January 2012

Are you sure it's not a miss print and is supposed to be $1,000? Well, ok, maybe $1500?

  • Bobby Galvez28 January 2012

Buy it for $ 1,000,000 and fail to make payments. Get bailed out for $ 2,000,000 because it's too big to fail.

Only reason I know of using aluminum connecting rods is in the racing field. The good ones are made from billet aluminum cold extruded under 2000+ tons of pressure and cryogenic treated. There stronger than steel rods and can take more punishment in terms of very high RPMs and high cylinder pressures. They can also be of a titanium compound and you can also get them ceramic coated to shed off oil ...

  • D. Sander28 January 2012

I am scared. Aluminum is just not strong enough. These rods are connected to pistons that have a lot of ground to cover during each revolution, pistons that have to go quite fast to reach the top of the stroke, then reverse direction and go back down to the bottom of the stroke in each revolution. Glad you found them before one broke, poked through the block and found you.

The MGA is a fantastic car, I can't state that enough. They are fun to work on, fun to restore and run like a scared rabbit, they GO!
I restored one in 1987 and had a lot of fun doing it.
The North American MGA Register (NAMGAR) is a fantastic group.

If you have the standard 3 prong headlight socket in the shell a sealed beam (7") should just plug in. If not you will have to wire a socket in.

  • C.R. Tyrell28 January 2012

There are lots of good MGA's around. My brother works on them and I will pass on his advice. "Buy the best car you can already restored, and drive the thing"

It is not only cheaper in the long run, but you can spend your time enjoying the drive.

    My 2 cents!

  • C.R. Tyrell28 January 2012

This is with the door laid on.

  • C.R. Tyrell28 January 2012

Thanks Bud for all your hard work. This is what I have to work with. As you can see the opening by the PO was way too big at the top, hence the repair.

  • 1967 MGB RED

I find it fitting that it was from this site that I found and bought this car in 2002. It has been a joy to own and drive. I've met wonderful people along the way, and enjoyed meeting strangers as they admired the car.
