I have had a standard .73 B as a daily driver with a brake servo for the last 20- odd years. I'm looking at getting replacement B (similar age)- would I notice much if it didn't have a servo? |

I dug out some genuine BMC old stock today. The lower is 7/8" long and the upper is 5/8" - but the most important difference is that the upper has has a rubber shoulder which stands proud and is backed by the rebate of the steel insert, giving an OD of 1-1/8". The lower by contrast just has a tube steel insert , and after the 9/16" tapered section it just runs parallel for the last 1/4". Hopefully... |

Trying to remember Dave, but I think the brake light switch operates as a brake pedal position switch as well as a light switch and if the pedal gets bumped accidentally back too far the switch gets knocked back out of position.

Just a brief update. The float chamber mounts are now properly matched and its too early to say whether it has sorted out one carb always being too rich. I'm hoping that it might have but I'll need to take it for a decent run to find out. Thanks to all for your comments & advice. My delay in updating has been due to a puzzling misfire issue but I think this is now sorted by some new plug leads... |
